I wanted everyone that still needs to register know that for some reason when you submit your registration on-line via the Dragon Website you might receive a message that your submission was not sent. Although you receive the message I do in fact receive it. The last person sent it 5 times and I received all 5....... I will send you a email message or a pm within 24 hours of you submitting and also update the list..... Thanks ......
Just made hotel reservation. Now starting to map out route there and back. Should be a fun 6 to 8 days, can not wait.
Glad to have you, POTFH!
We're up to 34 cars now, including us coordinators!!
:Side note: Those who see that link the new system inserted into the previous post, remember we are staying at Fontana Village in North Carolina. That link was going to random hotels!

When the calculate and post the event fee, will you have the option for some parts to be excluded?
Basically myself (+1) and Rick112(+1) will be needing to leave on Saturday afternoon/evening to return to Canada and so will not be able to make the Saturday night dinner.

Registered on the 2009 Solstice/Sky at The Dragon - now I just need to convince my wife on how much fun it's going to be, and sign-up. We really need a vacation!

BritSol, sorry you guys have to leave early.
Unfortunately, we have no way of offering a reduced rate. the reduced cost for the meals this year is per a flat rate which covers the meals and the room for the two nights. We can't break it up.

The primary reason, well, I guess this is as good a time as any. I'll be stepping back to a more "advisory and help" role. I'm stepping down completely after this year with the Dragon event. I've not been around the forums much, many things in life pulling me away. This event deserves better than that, deserves somebody who can better maintain it. The others in the committee will take on other things where needed.
An advice to others wanting to take on something like this: Be prepared to give everything you have towards the goal, and have the time to do so. If not, it won't be pretty.
I enjoyed helping smartin set up the first run in 2006. After that, I felt in my gut, this community needed a presence at the Dragon. I took it on myself with pursuit's help to start setting up a weekend gathering. Thankfully where needed, appygirl and KYGXP stepped up and participated. Preparing for this year, the other Kims stepped in, and the event began to take a life of its own. With current situations, I found myself being able to devote less and less time and energy. With the current committee in place and the energy they have, I know the event will continue. It's time forme to step down. In the future I hope to attend the events to come, but only as another attendee.
Thank you to everyone who has come to the event over the years. You have given me memories that I will always keep. The one memory that may personify a sense of accomplishment in building this is in 2007 after we had all come off the Dragon, Daywalker and the yellow sky that accompanied him(sorry, the name escapes me, had just come off the Dragon whlie many of us were stopped at the Crossroads at TOTD store and Deals Gap. Daywalker and his guest did a U in the intersection and went right back on the Dragon!!! That I guess symbolizes to me everything I hoped to do.
God bless,
Lee
