Here's a penny savin tip. Try and buy your gas before you get into North Carolina.
They're about 15 cents or so higher per gallon than the neighboring states. I know our tanks are small and it doesn't amount to a whole lot but why give it away ? Be safe on your journey and enjoy!

Good low $ in NC are:

$3.99 87

$4.09 89

$4.15 91

Shell at Mebane Oaks Road in NC on I-85/40 is the cheapest branded in the state.
TA BP just West on 85/40 is low also.

On the toll road (Chesapeake e-way) coming into ENC, gas is good there and also at the border stations in VA.

Shell on I-77 between Elkin? and Denton? xits 65 or 73 or 79, don't remember which.
BP on NC 16 in Newton and on US 321Alt Newton are good stops.

The BIG pipe and main inland tanker terminal is in SELMA on I-95. Just South of Benson/Dunn was good last trip.

Wilmington NC is lower, same for Morehead City.

On 10th Street and around the corner on Greenville Bvd just past McD's, Greenville NC, the Emerald City in the land of OZ is low for Shell.

Anywhere on the SC border is good with 76 at BMW on I-85 best last time I checked.

Beleive it or not Sylva and Cherokke were not bad last time I was through, you just have to hunt.

Strawberry Plains in TN is good, also sometimes, Maryville/Alcoa.

Hope this helps from a travlin mayn

I would like to join in for this run as it goes right by my Dad's house! If I can work out the scheduling, I'll merge in about 2 miles south of 19/74 on Hwy 28 at Hogsback gap. I have been driving this area for years and let me tell you, the 18 miles of Hwy 28 between Luada and Franklin are mostly 2nd/3rd gear switch backs and have relatively little straight sections (Swain county (north end) portion more so) -- with a 55 mph speed limit! Just be sure to stay on your side of the line

Any idea what channel and privacy code will be used yet?...I'm joining the run about 20 miles into it so I won't be at the driver's meeting

twotoys will have to give you that info, kd4z.

Ordinarily, I'd be asking you to send me a waiver or bring one with you that twotoys could give to me at Fontana. We're too close for that. Just know that you are tagging along of your own accord.
