An open post to all attending the Southeast Regional Meet

PEOPLE...these runs do not just happen...nor do they take care of themselves

A lot of hard work goes into preparing for a regional event

The EASY STUFF is the hotels and the catering (believe me..that is the easy part)

The TOUGH PART is "PEOPLE COMMITTMENT"

For example...Kim & John are basically alone in the Lexington area.
John has mapped out some good runs I am sure.

But as any of you know who have attended a NEO event....you can't run a 40-car daisy chain...which is why NEO events are broken down into Groups of 10 cars or less.

KIM has 40 cars paid and committed which means CURRENTLY only 4 or 5 Road Captains
would be required..
But as more people sign up...(it is still 3+ months away) , the need for road Captains increases

I am driving from 6 hours away.....BLK GXP is coming in from St. Louis and Bryan1969 is coming from Southern Indiana to make sure there are enough Road Captains.

If you care about this event...like the twisties...or cruising and live within 3 hours of Lexington, I STRONGLY urge you to get involved.

Without your people support the burden of making this a success falls on a very few people.

So come on you Kappa people...don't make excuses...this run isn't just about you and me .... it is about the ability to do a little "community service" so that EVERYBODY has a great experience.

Please Volunteer

Here endeth the pledge break...and now back to our regularly scheduled discussion.

I wish I was closer, but if you need any administrative support .... or support that does not require "practice" (maybe sweeper) then count me in. I just hate to commit to anything that you really need, because my job role often will throw a last minute "surprise" and there is always a chance of me missing an event. Either way, I will be more than happy to help ... maybe everyone can talk at the Savannah Meet in 2 weeks.

On another note, I hope that people understand this meet is NOT trying to steal any "thunder" of any "National" meet, but I do believe as the community grows we will see more "Regional" meets form. It appears that for some reason people are not "supporting" this meet with even close to the level that they support other meets. This location is a very reasonable drive for a good majority of the community and it would be a great opportunity to meet other owners. I was not able to go to the Vegas and Colorado is about a 4000 mile RT from my house, so I hope we continue to have people like Kim step up to host a "Regional" meet.

I really hope that people can come together and make this meet awesome. I drove through that area in 2006 and that is a beautiful part of the country!

Thanks Steve.....
One reason that Lexington was choosen is that it is right in the middle of the Eastern Coast between Cananda and Key West and an easy drive for most people. I know that alot of people wait to the last minute to decide due to jobs or other issues but I hope that everyone who can make it will join us. When I commited to hosting there were not any other meets out there as it was right after Nashville, since then there has been several large meets such as T2TR and Mecca Plant Tour which are just 2 of them... Both of these brought in large numbers of cars and were Regional in nature. The meet here in Kentucky is just that a Regional Meet in a central location with wonderful roads and a chance to socialize with other owners. I for one enjoy driving new roads and meetin more of my Kappa Family.
Yes we will have a few bells and whisles with vendors and sponsors but we are not here to take away or replace any other meet. I have now 95 cars signed up and 40 are confirmed attending and we still have 2 1/2 months to go I hope that the mailbox will start being full. The plans are to offer several different types of runs for different types of driving, award dinner & mod clinics.
I have already signed up for the Nationals in Colorado and plan on also attending the Regional at the Beach.

Thanks for bringing this question up again. For those going to Savannah I will see ya there.

Add me to the list

You can add me to the list, I will probably come down on Saturday but will know when event gets closer. I would be interested in the window tinting as well.

If you go on pre-runs let me know and I'll try to make some.

The 10-day weather forecast shows a 30% chance of showers on Sunday, which means .... nothing. I suggest we meet at the Cracker Barrel at 9 to have breakfast and/or to go over routes. That will give us time to get to the Holiday Inn by 10, and we can leave from there.

People

THIS IS ONE OF THE HARDEST PARTS TO WORK AROUND

People say" yeah that sounds interesting ...I'm in"
so Kim figures I need a room big enough to feed 100

When AR set up the Dells last year there were 74 cars on the prelim-list
About 52 showed up.

One of the reasons T2TR is a pre-pay is to get a COMMITTMENT from all these
people that say" yeah that sounds like fun" but then fail to follow through.

This is why I dropped all those names OFF MY LIST and reduced the list to only those I had received money from.

People started asking me" Why am I not on the list anymore" (you know who you are) and my answer was ..."Cause you haven't bloody paid yet "

Kim....if I were you (jmho) I'd post a list of 40 cars and plan it that way.
That'll get a lot of attention when somebody realizes they are no longer on the list.
Then all of a sudden you start getting money in the mail.

You are not a baby sitter...you are an EVENT CO_ORDINATOR. These are grown ups...not kids. You want back on the list.............

D2 I hear you as someone who has to deal with this as well it is a fine line and a hard balance to strike. Kim, you will never make them all happy and you know that. Pick a cut off date and push the message hard that the date is firm. Hope that helps!
