Plannin on coming to Kentucky for the Southeastern Meet? Please post with which Run you would like to go on so that we can start planning on groups.....
If you havent signed up for any of the runs please do so in order for us to organize the groups......
Also if you would like to join in any of the group dinner choices......
All of these runs are pretty strong on twisties. The Winery and Distillery Tours both run through the Kentucky River Palisades, and the Winery Tour adds a run down to the river at Valley View and back. The few roads that are straight for any distance are hilly, so nothing will be boring. We are referring to the 227 run as the serious twisty run because it runs through some semi-remote countryside, and is lightly travelled. The speed limit for most of its length is 55 MPH, and not many people can run the whole thing that fast, so generally you can run it as fast as you want. It is probably the only run that we will divide into speed classes.
Offered Friday Morning and Sat Morning
227 Hot Shoes : 7:30AM : Depart for a run up 227 and back. It is a little under an hour each way, so the return would be by 10:00 AM. JRinKY plans to lead this run as many times as anyone wants to make it, because the road is that much fun.....
Friday only....
Friday Night Dinner Suggestions:
Reservations are necessary for all meals to assure availability I need to know by August 10th to make Reservations-
deShae's - Downtown Lexington, parking garage very upscale.... Limit to the first 15 people
Elk Creek Winery - Owenton... this includes the 227 Run.... Food is Sandwich Cafe.... No Limit
Natural Bridge ( Long ): Also known as Red River Gorge. This is classed as a long run because it is mostly driving. Has some twisties, one lane roads and a one lane tunnel, visits the Natural Bridge Park.
This run will be broken up into groups of 7 to 8 cars leaving 15 mins apart starting at 9:00am and the last groups out are reserved for the 227 Runners that Morning.
Sat only:
1. Bourbon Tour:10:00 AM : Depart for the Bourbon Tour. This tour will easily allow a return by 3:00 PM if we limit the stops to two (Woodford Reserve and Wild Turkey). Woodford is a small-batch, hand operation, Turkey is a medium-sized operation. Has some twisties, one lane roads, short turnaround at Shaker Village, visiting Wild Turkey, Woodford Reserve.....
2. Wine Tour : 10:00 AM : Depart for the Winery Tour. There are several easy-return bail-out points for anyone who wants to return early, or we can shorten the whole run to return at 3:00 if there is limited interest in actually visiting and tasting at all of the wineries. Has some twisties, sweeping rollin hills, visits 4-5 Wineries around Lexington planning on eating at one of the Wineries.
There will also be some type of visit to The Kentucky Horse Park for those who are interested. Thinkin maybe taking the Group Pic over there on Friday Afternoon after everyone is back from the runs but before dinner....
Current Mods:
Solo Mach Exhaust, JPM Arm Rests-Visor Covers-Center Cover, Stubby Antenna, Wind Screen, Replacement Spring for Factory Compressor Bypass Valve (or BOV), Norms Rear Facia, Foot Well Lighting, Red Map Lights and a JPM Shifter.....

Reason: Updating Lists
How long are the other tours and will they be back in time to do the Mod scramble, detailing etc. on Saturday which starts at 3 pm?
The runs other than the Natural Bridge will be about 4 to 5 hours long. Really depends on how much time each of the stop-overs will be for looking and tours. John had mentioned offering the Hot Shoes several times it will be the shortest.

Kim, check the details and let me know if I have missed something.
I have been working on scheduling the runs, and here is a preliminary plan. Keep in mind that it will change based on interest and the number of leaders that we can introduce to the runs. This schedule is available for Friday and Saturday, and if there is interest, on Thursday and Sunday. The times listed are for the first group out, with subsequent departures at 5-10 minute intervals, if required.

10:00 AM : Depart for the Red River Gorge. This is classed as a long run because it is mostly driving. The "Tours" involve quite a lot of stopped time. This run will return by 3:00 PM.
10:30 AM : Depart for the Winery Tour. The full tour lasts until 5:00 PM if we do all of the convenient wineries. There are several easy-return bail-out points for anyone who wants to return early, or we can shorten the whole run to return at 3:00 if there is limited interest in actually visiting and tasting at all of the wineries.

Woodford is a small-batch, hand operation, Turkey is a medium-sized operation. If there is enough interest we can add a mass production operation, which would stretch the return out to 5:00 PM.
If there are any hot shoes that want to run 227, but don't want to get up early, we will have a mid-morning departure for that run as well.
I am also planning to make a more leisurely run up 227 on at least one evening to have a light dinner at the Elk Creek Winery, and maybe listen to some live music on their deck.
I am making detailed trip notes for each of the runs, so anyone that wants to go out on their own is welcome to do so.

That sounds great.... I started this thread to see which runs will draw the most interest. Thanks so much for detailing for everyone..... This will help alot. The most important is that everyone is back from the Runs on Sat in time to clean up and to detail the cars for the Scramble and the Clinics......

JRinKY this sounds really good. If you were to do Elk Creek on Friday evening I would definitely join you. I will be driving down from my office in Florence, KY late Friday afternoon. If there is a winery run Saturday I will sign up.

Fridays evening's plans will depend mostly on the weather. August is generally dry, so the odds are that I'll be making the run, but 227 is not much fun in the wet, so if it rains we'll have a new plan.
There will definitely be a Winery Tour on Saturday.
I added a couple of notes in a new paragraph 3 of post #8.

Mrtoycrazy and I would be interested in the Natural Bridge and 227 Hot Shoes. All the runs sound great and a big THANK YOU to all who have been involved in putting them together. I know a lot of planning and time goes into the effort.
