here are a few other ideas if you don't want to drive as far. there is the deep creek area outside of bryson city. there are 2 or 3 waterfalls that are very short hikes. one is juney whank falls and the other is indian creek falls and the tom branch falls. not to many people know about this area and the trail is nice and wide and flat.
the other waterfall is mingo falls outside of cherokee. just a walk up some stairs to see the waterfall that drops 120'.
either area is easy to get to and not to long a drive from fontana. i have included an area map to show where the falls are and it includes where clingmans dome is.

Look out, you've got your blinders on

Well here I come and I'm so not scared,
Got my pedal to the metal, got my hands in the air
Look out, you take your blinders off
Everybody's looking for a way to get real gone
here are a few more ideas if people are interested. there is horseback riding about anywhere around in the mountians. back in cades cove they offer carriage rides thru the woods. if night life is more your liking cherokee has casinos.
sorry if i seem to take over the thread but i feel like the smoky mountains are my 2nd home. sometimes wish it was my 1st home.

Jazz- you and I both. Brian (Evl_Twn) and I go down there several times a year. Sometimes with the motorcycles sometimes with the autos. Plan is to buy some property in the next few years to save on hotel bills we have been paying, and retire there eventually.
appygirl i hope you can do it. i would love to live somewhere around that area. if you get home sick look at the thread (the dragon and the smoky mtns) lots of pictures i took on our vacation last week in the smoky's. that way you can get your smoky mountain fix

I keep my places secret and no matter whut, sumbody blows it.
Deep creek is a great camp by the water and possible in a SOLSTICE with a tent.
Bryson, don't call it Bryson City is a great place to knock about for half a day but go on to Dillsboro and do the GMSR whole day to the whitewater center.
Jarret House is a great Inn and the eats are as mountain home as you can get. That stuff this dive in Dillsboro calls BBQ, ain't.
Try not to spend dollar coin with the locals, it makes them cranky
So it's 10 pm on a friday night and we're all done driving
and some of us are chugging at a bottle of Captain Morgan
so what other extra curricular activites do we need

I think a tubing run and/or horseback riding would be cool options.
