I would love to go and try a zip line. Not sure what the heck I'm doing yet. Was just looking for flights for Thursday night. Although, maybe I can drive if most of the fun is Friday. TBD!!!
If you can get down Wed you can ride down with me.... If you cant leave until Thurs then maybe you can meet up with Icarus and ride with her..... You let us know and we will hook you up with a seat... The Dragon Runs are all on Friday with the extras on Sat....
I will go ahead and put you on the Zip List...... WHOO WHOO.....
You are way too organized (and thank-you for being so for us all)!
Please switch me over to this - I have done both in other venues and I'm sure I'll have more fun with this. Besides, I like heights!
(Hummm, areotrekking eh? )
Thanks.... I try to make sure that everything is thought of but of course I cant take all the credit there are 9 other people behind the scenes...
Awwww what the HE double hockey sticks. Sign Me Up....

I for sure can't leave until Thursday. I'm waiting on 2 things to happen:
My boss to get back Wednesday so I can feel him out about me taking the Friday during a start-up off and I have to confirm my summer intern's presentation is Thursday and not Friday. I heard it's Thursday.
Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Areotrekking is so damn cool... Late fall is the best time for that in AZ (can skim low and fast without so many wind current issues to splash you down and the canyon runs are awesome). Definitely on my short list. Was going to buy a kite wing but the Solstice was easier to buy, park and run in the short term...

I spoke to the owners today, and they are giving us a (12 or more) rate of $55.00 per!!!
This also means that the pool of takers may increase- the more the merrier.
(Zipline groups REQUIRE a reservation- since will be on a bit of a time constraint, this is good for us.)
To set some of you at ease, my wife and I asked these questions:
Q: Do we have to pay a deposit and is it refundable for any reason?
A: No deposit; no prepayment required.
Q: What if it rains? How does that impact our event?
A: The Zipline is not run during a rain. Normally, they just wait for the rain to pass.
Q: Is there a weight/age limit?
A: The more you weigh, the faster you go (but they show you how to control your speed). The Zip speed may not be quite fast enough for some of you "Hot Shoes" types! The operators sometime "ride double" with guests who are initially frightened. No age restrictions- my wife and I witnessed a group that included ages 5 to 77!
Q: How long does it usually take a group of 12?
A: We are required to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to appointment. There harnesses to rig and safety of flight instructions to hear). Provided we do not get slowed down by a previous group (or a sudden reversal of courage), expect the complete run of 6 Ziplines to take 1.5 to 2 hours.
Q: What about parking?
A: There is ample parking behind the office.
Additional questions you may have:
Q: What is the drive like to and from the amusement?
A: Being a Saturday (to avoid too many touristas, aka Sunday drivers)- starting early out the Dragon, to the scenic highway for best speed, to Zipline. Afterward, the drive back will be through County (back)roads and some twisties that will make those not going sorry they missed the drive! We will hit the Dragon after coming over the Foothills Parkway, then back into Fontana. MapQuest, GoogleMaps, and Yahoo Maps all seem to put travel time at 2 hours. One section of the drive back is on a road that we will not be observing the speed limit!
Pending my driving the route (it stormed today, so no realistic times available), I suggest for the time being: leaving the Village by 8 a.m. to be a bit early for an 11 o'clock reservation; back on the road by 1:30 - 2 p.m. (allowing extra time for pictures, etc.); getting us all back easily by Kim's deadline of 5 p.m. You may also notice NO allotted time for lunch stop, which begs the question: will you be able to keep your lunch down?!?! Watching the Zipline showed that it is more tame than being a passenger in a car on the Dragon! Thoughts on lunch, anyone?
From my backyard,
John

We are currently signed up for the tubing, but we had so much fun doing a zip line in Alaska 2 years ago. I need to consult my entertainments committee (AKA the wife).

....WOW......
Thank you so much John for helping with this, everything sounds great and I look forward to your driving route as well...
As far as lunch I am thinking maybe stopping for fast food somewhere around there after we ZIP. We dont want anything that would take time... just my 2 cents..... The 5 pm deadline is just so that we can get back in time to clean up and chill before Dinner.... So that is not set in stone just amble time to relax....
Kim,
Sign us up! I too am afraid of heights, but nothing a couple of shots of Patron can't take care of
BTW, we may be arriving at ToTD a little early. Trying to arrange a pit stop at DDM on the way.......
