R2TR III - Starved Rock Run, Morris IL - June 7th

It's time to Run 2 The Rock again Kids!! We've tweaked the run a bit to take a nice little fun detour through Illini State Park in an attempt to eliminate the Cows & Wrigley Southwest portion of the run!

Same game plan as always:

Meet at "R" Place off of I-80/Route 47 in Morris, IL
Take Old Stage Road to Seneca
Cross the river and head east to loop around Dupont Road
Then head west to Illini State Park
Then to Ottawa to Route 71 through the nice hill climb and twisties
Then through/around Starved Rock to Buffalo Rock where...

A support vehicle will be waiting and we'll BBQ!

No cookie tour this year. I figured 2 tours was enough!
Afterwards, we can goof off around Starved Rock or we can crash that little Biker Bar at the beginning of the twisties on Route 71.

Anyway...Who is in??

I'll have to dig it out, but I used to have play by play directions. It's changed a bit though. Let me work on that.

If you want, we can run this. If you take I-55 up to Route 6 (just south of I-80), I could meet you in Pontiac and follow you up I-55. Or I can meet you in Morris if you want to do it on the way to Normal. You'd just take I-39 down rather than I-55.

Let me see if I can dig up the old threads. They don't include Illini State park, but we tried it last year on a whim and it was very well worth it!! You'll enjoy the hill climb on 71. Not as long as the one on 26, but it has a nice switch back and you can go screaming through it!!

I-80 Exit 112 (Route 47)

Here is the New & Improved Route Info for you GPS Lovers out there:

Route 47 South (Left) Into Morris, IL
Route 6 East (Left)
South (Right) onto McLinden Road
Veer West (Right) onto Cemetary Road
Cemetary Road becomes Armstrong St.
South (Left) onto Cedar St. (this veers right into Benton St)
North (Right) onto Route 47
West (Left) onto Route 6 (Bedford Road)
South (Left) onto Saratoga Road)
West (Right) onto Old Stage Road.
Old Stage Road becomes East Union St. in Seneca
South (Left) onto North Main Street Seneca.
East (Left) onto N 2553rd Road. Becomes N 25th Road. Becomes W. Dupont Road.
We'll reach the plant and make a U-Turn around the park bench.
Return West on Dupont Road through the nice little twisties we stumbled upon!
South (Left) onto Kinsman Road
West (Right) onto Indian Trail Road
North (Right) onto E 30th Road (LaSalle Road)
West (Left) onto N 25th Road. Becomes N 2553rd Road.
North (Right) onto E 2425th Road into Illini State Park
West (Left) onto N 2659th Road in Illini State Park)
Pit Stop if needed
Loop through Illini State Park
South (Left) onto Blueberry Hill Road (E 2350th Road)
West (Right) onto N 2553rd Road.
N 2553rd Road Becomes N 2653rd Road.
N 2653 Road Becomes E McKinley Road in Ottawa.
North (Right) onto Route 23 (1st Ave) in Ottawa.
West (Left) onto Route 71 (Hitt St.)

We'll turn right into Starved Rock. That will spit us out until Route 178.
North (Right) towards Utica
Across the bridge
East (Right) onto Dee Bennett Road
Right to Buffalo Rock.

I'll try to plot this in Google Maps. I've never had good luck with it, but I'll do my best!

We can make that work. I'd like to do it right before to make sure there are no road issues. It's pretty wet around here now, so there are probably road issues...like I gaurantee Old Stage Road is closed.

If you do it more towards the end of the month I can make that work as well!
