Critter Cruise 2008

Most of you probably have at least one pet in the house. We have five; Holly - the German Shepherd, Scarlett - the Siamese cat, Patch - the infamous one-eyed shelter kitty, Boris - the parakeet and Spike - the beta fish. They are all loved and ridiculously spoiled members of our family.

However, as this is written there are 88 dogs, 138 cats and 36 birds, rabbits, hamsters or other small animals who have no place to call home except the Oregon Humane Society.

For those who did not know, the Oregon Humane Society does not receive any public funding through the collection of taxes. Their sole source of funding is animal lovers like all of us. So in the spirit of giving during the holidays, who better to receive help than those who truly cannot help themselves – homeless pets.

Come join the “Critter Cruise” to be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008. We will start the day with a hearty breakfast then head over to Pet Smart with “wish lists” in hand supplied by the Oregon Humane Society for some “dog-gone” fun shopping!

Once we have our pet presents, we will make a cruise up 82nd Avenue in the traditional “low ‘n slow” fashion so as to better show off any special décor you may have dreamed up (Go for it Babybat!) then on to the shelter.

When we arrive, we will be greeted in the parking lot by OHS volunteers and some of their furry charges for photo ops, weather permitting. Once we deliver our goodies, they have arranged an exclusive behind the scenes tour of their incredible facility and we can meet some of the animals that are looking to be adopted. Who knows, maybe some of you will go home with a new forever friend!

Please RSVP as soon as you can so we can let the shelter know how many of us to expect (and we hope to arrange for special parking as well so we need to know how many cars). The Oregon Humane Society is very excited to welcome us and we hope to have a great showing for them!

8:30 am -10:00 am Meet for breakfast at Biscuits Cafe
9201 SE 91st Avenue, Suite 100, Portland

10:00 -10:45 am Shopping at PetSmart
9450 Se 82nd Avenue, Portland

10:45 -11:30 am Cruise to Shelter

11:30 -12:30 Shelter tour/meet the animals

We will run in rain or shine so bring your holiday spirit, a big heart and a generous wallet. Dressing up your car is encouraged, but not required. Santa hats are also encouraged!

Note: This event is open to anyone that wants to participate; they do not need a Kappa car to join us.

i sure my wife really want to go this event, i love it too, but someone already ask me replace his work on that day to take a day off, so..........

let see, i try to find someone work for me that day so i can go.

Not a bad idea Tommy. I know another local car club that wants to put one on as well. Maybe we could take turns.

Well we're putting together the final touches to this run as we speak and all is going well. Looks like we may have around 20 cars for this event.

Not sure what the weather holds, but if it is nasty please feel free to drive whatever you need to.

Please feel free to dress up your car or Christmas Theme it (not mandatory) for this event.

sorry, i sudden need work in sat morning,so don't wait me in morning, but what time will done you guy, did you have plans after that?(lunch, dinner?)

i will off the job around 1:00pm, i should be able be Portland around 3:00pm, if you guy not done in that time, i will drive to portlnad to meeting you guy.
