Formula D in Vegas July 10th and 11th, 2009

Well formula D will be in Vegas on the 10th and 11th of July and I think we should get a run to support our drifting kappas. The event is held at

Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Las Vegas Motor Speedway
google map: map las vegas motor speedway - Google Maps

I would like to cruise down Friday morning to beat weekend traffic and cruise back Sunday morning. Fridays event is 7pm to 11pm and Saturdays event is 7pm to 12am

Im going to try to stay off the strip to keep it a cheap trip but if I can find a deal Ill stay at a casino.

So whos in?

Lord willing, I will be hitting town Friday afternoon, driving in from Colorado/Utah. I'm staying at the La Quinta on the NE side of town.

Hope to see y'all there!

We're going to try to make it again this year, we're less than 10 minutes away from the track. Last year was great.

La Quinta... is it this one?
That is only a few blocks south of the speedway. Nellis/LV Blvd

If i go, I will have to leave here at around 4pm on saturday and google says it'll take me 4 hours from my house to LV Motor Speedway. I would definitely stay the night and come back on sunday.

Maybe T&T have a free day on Sunday and we can go on some sort of cruise. I've heard there are some nice roads over there

Is Cars & Coffee Las Vegas on Saturdays or Sundays?

Ur best bet would to take the whole day off b/c if you leave anytime after 2 you will catch so much traffic going to vegas, it will turn into a 6-7 hr trip, trust me, we went to weeks ago I left saturday morn and was kinda smooth sailin' til we got close the the state line, then it slowed down a bit cus they're are doing work on the I-15 in that part. My mom left friday at 3 from Moreno Valley and it took them 6.5hrs to get there and they didnt stop for food.

We had a great time at last years event. I am sure we could make it out to this one too.
Cars and Coffee is Saturday mornings from 7a-10a.
The Cannery Hotel & Casino is only a few miles away from the track, so I would check there rates too. We might be able to drive up to Mt Charleston Sunday, it is to the North of town but anywhere else is going to be really HOT that time of year.
As for traffic - goofyboy is right. As soon as you get closer to Stateline/Primm the traffic gets congested because of the construction. It is the same when leaving Vegas if it is in the early afternoon.

Since I cannot get the day off, do you guys think i can leave at 7pm and get there by midnight? Should i just leave at 5 anyway and just suffer with traffic and get there around 11?

I would miss the formula D events but i'll stay up all night enjoying vegas and hopefully head on a Sunday Cruise. If there's no sunday cruise going on then I probably wont go. What time do you guys recommend driving back from Vegas on sunday? After like 6 or 7pm ?

oh yeah, and this is only if Louie goes! lol j/k

I would still leave around 4pm and hope for the best, especially since you are coming in on a Saturday. As for leaving on Sunday - I would ask EndiSky, he has left here on a Sunday a few times....

If u leave at 7pm u wont hit ass much traffic as if u left at 5, but u still will....I wud say either leave in the morning or at night...As for comin' back on sunday same thing too either leave b4 10 or wait til nite to come home because if u leave between 11-6 ur gonna catch mad traffic and it will take 6-7hrs, dats wut happened to us a couple times and a couple weeks ago leavin from vegas in that time frame beacuse most people leave during those times.

I would strongly suggest "Leaving Las Vegas" on sunday later in the nite, around 7ish or later. We can find stuff to do on the strip or off, trust me!
