Here are some pictures of our event. I have posted a link to all the pictures and attached a select few.
We had a great time. The clasic cars at the Jubilee were amazing. A lot of us took laps as the co-pilot with professional drivers in Porches. We hit speeds over 100 mph on the track. We also were allowed to take parade laps in our cars as a group. That track is fantastic. The famous cork screw was everything they claimed it would be. Our afternoon club drive was awesome. It started out through farm county, past vinyards and old barns. The middle section was 40 miles of tight twisties on a freshly paved narrow road. The last section was down Hwy 1 along the coast to Big Sur for dinner. Many enjoyed the drive meandering through the country side, taking in the beautiful scenery. A few of us pushed our cars to the limit, (and beyond). We had a little mishap along the way. Nobody got hurt, and that is the most important thing. One of the Sols did take some damage but was drivable after the incident. What is amazing to me is that the airbags did not deploy. If anyone else was driving they would have rolled the car for sure. Instinct would make most drivers still try to make the turn, even when the car is beyond the point of no return. Thank god this driver realized that, and ponted the tires where the car was insisting on going. There was a lot of lose gravel on the road because it was freshly paved. I think that, (and the line taken) caused him to hit the shoulder. Once he lost traction there was nothing he could do but what he did, brake and keep the tires straight. After the dust settled, the driver and his passenger had a relatively soft landing 10 feet below the road. I do not think they went airborn. He was able to slow enough to roll down the embankment, through a barbed wire fence, into a field. It so happens that the was a Red Angus Bull in the field. Luckily the car was not red. He was able th drive the car through the field to a gate, and get out. The whole situation was very scary. In the big picture, nobody was hurt. It is great to have fun, to see what you and the car are capable of. I think we will set some limitations on our future runs. Below Mach 1 is a reasonable request.

How many cars attended? Looks like a great meet I hope to get up to Laguna Seca one day
as for the crash, thankfully noone was injured. I really worry about people pushing their cars in the canyons, i'd hate to see someone make a mistake with one of the big canyon drop offs Good idea about placing some limits next time, it would be a sad day if someone got hurt.
I say there is no shame in using brakes when needed What a shame the incident happened! This is rare, as I have not heard of other "situations" on these car meets. As was mentioned above, at least no person was hurt. My husband keeps telling me it is just a piece of metal

The Laguna Seca meet was a lot of fun. We were a small group of only 8 cars, which in a way was sort of nice because we were more like a group of friends sharing a beautiful weekend! I haven't met a Sol owner I haven't liked yet. Once I go through my pictures I will post a few also, but Sal is right, driving the track was a blast. Even though they try to regulate your speed really closely....uhm our lead Sol sort of held back a bit to make some zoom room! Once he had a decent distance from the car ahead of him...we all zoomed around the track until we caught up! We got to do that through the corkscrew....whew...what a rush! Though probably more for me than my white knuckled copilot....
The cars at the Jubilee were awsome. They ranged from a beautifully restored Auburn to 60's Bugs to 2006 Mustangs.
Heck, it was a lot of fun just talking about our Sols. My wife and I got tons of questions and we were even letting people sit in our car to see how it felt. Everyone loved it! No surprise? Anyway we joked, GM should be giving us some sort of commission for all of our sales work.
Oh and while I am thinking about it...MY THANKS TO SWINGING STEAK FOR MAKING THE EVENT FOR US EVEN BETTER!!
Our club drive that afternoon went through some pretty country and yes there were lots of twisties. At one point the eight of us blew by a cop hiding behind some trees. I still don't know why he didn't come after us because we were doing about 70 mph at that point. The down side of the drive was the mishap Sal mentioned. I too think it could have been much worse had it not been for the skill and experience of the driver. He is to be commended for keeping a cool head. I also have to say, I am impressed by how strongly our little Sols are put together. I still can't believe this one was able to drive away!!
Needless to say our trip down Hwy 1 to dinner was a little more reserved, but we still had a good time. That part of the coastline is too beautiful, you can't help but enjoy driving through it.
All in all a great trip! The WCKCC has grown a bit as a result....wiser...probably, but closer....definitely!!
My son and I had a fantastic time at the latest WCKCC get together. I would like to thank "orlando" for organizing the meet.
I also will put out a special thank you to "Swinging Steak" for putting on such a great event as "Cherries Jubilee".
The parade laps that we got on the track were a blast even if we only got up to 65-70 mph. Seeing all those classic cars in excellent condition, I have a new appreciation of the time and money (not to mention sweat) that goes into fixing up and maintaining those "Works Of Art on Wheels".
I am also in mourning for Crimson Avenger's ride. At least nobody was hurt. Hopefully it can be fixed quickly and he will be back out there causing havoc once again on the streets and not harassing the bulls!
Here are a few photos: See the link for the rest of the track and bullfighting pics.

I couldn't make it but rest assured I was crying in my beer, thinking of you guys parading and hot-lapping your way 2 1/4 miles around that racetrack. That would definitely be an exciting time.
Can't wait to get my car.

even at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas!
For those of you who think you are safe to secure your valuables in the trunk, think again, (especially if the top is down).
One of our members could not find their keys momentarily. We could not get into the glove box to press the trunk release button because it was locked. Another member got a skinny piece of plastic and wedged it into the glove box gap and was able to trigger the trunk release botton. The keys were not in the trunk (found them in the hotel room), but we learned a valuable bit of information.

Note: the Hwy Patrol Motorcycle cop on the left hand side of one of the track pictures....he showed up after we had "zoomed" once or twice around the track. The Lotus was a sweet ride owned by a really cool older woman (my age) who loved to go fast. The car was a gift from her husband and she had driven there alone. The Auburn was magnificant. If I could have had any car there that day, she would have been it! I included the Mustang, because I hadn't seen one with those kind of doors before. The Jag was really nice except for the interior. Should have gotten a picture of the inside, but it was a bit gaudy. (Just my opinion though)
And as much as I tried, I couldn't shake that pesky Sky in my rearview mirror.
