Summer Solstice - Columbia Gorge run 09' (4th annual June 20, 2009, Hood Riv, OR)

4th Annual
Summer Solstice Run - Columbia Gorge

Hi everyone, It's time to wax up your Kappa and come play in the sunshine.

This year both John (IWantOne) and his wife LeeAnn are co-hosting this event.

We have some new roads and some old roads, a new place where we are eating lunch and a theme

Last year we had a record number (27) of Kappa cars attending the event.

Let's see if we can get more attendance this year!!!!!!

This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, June 20th.

We are planning on leaving from Starbuck's Coffee at 11:00am -

Starbuck's Coffee:
1040 E. Marina Rd
Hood River, OR 97031
541-386-4691

Map

Note: This has been the starting location for the last three years, so if you have been on this run before you know where to meet.

This year we are changing up a few things. First, we have some twisty roads that are sure to make you feel a little woozy

Second, the run this year has a Hawaiian theme, so bring whatever you have to wear for you and your car!!

Third, lunch is going to be at 1pm. It is a catered Hawaiian lunch compliments of Lilo's in The Dalles. Cost should run around $12 a person (includes tip). Drink is not included. Lunch will be at Maryhill winery. They have drinks there as well as wine tasting for $5. Make a purchase, get back the 5 spot.

We have the RSVP up on the pacificNWroadsters website, you may rsvp there or post a reply here

More to follow in a few weeks.

Things to bring on run

This is i post in solstice forum a long time ago. but i forgot post in here.

For someone new join us, or you are first time to our run, something we should know frist.

Ok, since is your first run, i try to give you couple tips for the run, that may help!

what you need on the run:

1.Fill up you tank of gas, check tire, window fliud.......(that should be do in everytime when you go a trip or travel)

2.Sun Block, Sun Glass, Hat or Hair Band(Don't get burn your skin)

3.Bottle of Water or Drink(you may need this anytime)

4.The right clothing(even is very sunny day, if you top down passing some Mount road, still may feel cold, bring more cloth leaving in your car, when you need it, is big saver!) i alway love the top down when i drive, but i easy to get a cold, so i alway dress warming.

5.If you have 2-ways radio, bring them to the run(since you don't have too much time useing this before, usually some people will have more than one to share, but you have you own is better.) so you can keep in touch the group.

6.If you need leaving the group early, make sure let someone know, so they don't need waiting or finding you.

7.Bring your camera or camcorder, so you can take pic or video(so, you can showing off to somone, or put your favorites pic in some contest, you may win some money!)

8.Get a good night sleep.(Remember you are driving!)

9.(you may don't need this, just a opinion, The GPS, you can keep track where you go, maybe you can mark the favorites point in your gps, so you can go again next time.)

10.The Last thing...................Be Safe and have fun. (keep the distance, your buddy may not as good as you are, and you need know you limit, someone can drive very fast and turn like a profession, but............ is that you? No one want have a accident in the happy day!)

Thanks for the tips Tommy !
