I'll try to make it next Sat. That is if my wife will take over for me. We run a business in Laguna Beach and we have to open by 8:00am.

Rooms for May 18

When I called the RAVEN WING PERFORMANCE to confirm my reservation for the school, they recomeded the BestWestern Antelope Valley Inn in Lancaster at 661-948-4651. Mention the Danny McKeever's "FAST LANE" Driving School and Willow Springs to get a discount.
I just called and the rate is $79 single NS.

The Essex house rate is $70 + Tax Mention Willow Springs

The Devonshire Inn rate is $63.50 + Tax Mention Willow Springs

Let me know where you guy's are staying (or PM)
Joe

Thanks for posting the rates.... Essex house is actually a pretty nice hotel, so don't let the discount fool you. Their normal rate is much closer to 120...

When I was out at Race Precision, I talked about the event a bit, and a bunch of the Sky folks may join us for the 20th run as well.

So, FakeBil, can you give us a summary of the suggestions so far?

I also posted this on the sky roadster site, but I vote for Rim of the World. It should be a beautiful ride, and it hasn't been too crowded on the roads in the last few weekends! (Not much snow this year with only 3" of rain all year!).

Also, I've gotten my Sky dealership (Saturn of Ontario, CA (California, not canada!)) to agree to throw us a little catered event. (breakfast times is better, but i'm sure they'll let it be anytime). This dealership will also call all of their previous sky buyers to invite them, so we should be able to drag even more people out of their homes! I'll need to know if you'd like to make use of this ASAP of course, so whoever is planning this (fakebil?), please PM me on the sky forums under VooDooNOFX!

I'll be there either way, but i'm sure it would help everyone if they knew what the actual route is as I haven't seen it yet!

I'm quite partial to the Big Bear loop my self. I did look at the timing, and we can do a lunch BBQ at the Saturn Dealership, a bunch of stops along the way for pics, a snack in Big Bear, and be back down to Redlands by 5:30 (Just in time for dinner )

Thanks for your work on this! I'll have FakeBil contact you.

Sounds pretty darn good to me.

CA's Rim of the World route sounds like a good plan. Who am I to argue if Saturn of Ontario (not Ontario ) wants to host us for lunch.

Here's the proposed route (thanks Vincent):
  • 11:30 Gathering and Social at Saturn of Ontario
  • 11:45 to 12:30 BBQ
  • 12:15 to 12:45 Brief Club business meeting
  • 1:00 PM depart down 10 East for Rim of the World Highway
  • 1:30 PM arrive at Wild Wood Park at the foot of the Highway 18 (this is where the mountain roads start!)
  • Pictures at various LARGE turnouts along the route
  • 3:00 PM Arrive in Big Bear
  • Snack and road rest 1 hour in Big Bear
  • 4:00 PM Depart Big Bear out the East exit down Highway 38
  • 5:30 PM Arrive in Redlands for optional dinner.

[link to google maps Big Bear route]

PM me if you plan to go so we can get a final headcount. I'll coordinate with VooDooNOFX on the BBQ (since he has the contact with the dealership), & Crimson Avenger on the Club part (since he is our fearless leader).

If it's OK with everyone, my wife & I would like to offer our house as the 1 hour stopover in Big Bear. We would supply snacks and drinks and a couple of bathrooms.

That is very nice of you both. I am sorry I will not be able to make it on this run. I enjoyed having lunch with you two when you were visiting San Luis Obispo.
Take care,
Sal

That is great!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Will you be joining us for the drive as well? Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with your kind gesture. If you'd like to PM me with your address so I can put it on the map.
