WCKCC Transformers Drive-in Movie night in SoCal [July 7, 2007]
The new, live action "Transformers" movie is coming out on the 4th of July. They've updated the vehicles the character's transform into, and the Autobots look like a General Motors ad . Jazz, second in command of the Autobots, will transform into a "modified" Solstice. I'm sure his mods give him more than just a few extra ponies under the hood.
At any rate, I thought it'd be really cool to get a group together to go see what will surely be an Oscar-worthy film, especially if that group includes a large showing of Solstices. I've already started negotiating the details. The fine people at the Mission Tiki drive-in in Montclair, CA seem pretty excited about the prospect of us joining them for an evening of fun. The plan so far is to get together at the theatre a couple hours before the movie starts, enjoy each other's company and some good BBQ, and watch the movie.
The votes have been tallied, people have had the opportunity to voice their opinions, and a decision has been made. WCKCC will be having a movie night at the Mission Tiki Drive-in in Montclair, CA on Saturday, July 7, 2007, and a good time will be had by all.
While my inspiration has been the first real movie connection for the Solstice, I don't want that to make it a Sol exclusive event. I'm looking to fill the place to capacity. If the assortment of cars are more diverse than the diversity on the screen, that's great. Sol, Sky, Camaro, Top Kick (tall vehicles in the back, please), f-22, anyone with wheels, get them all to RSVP for this.

very cool
It is only a 2200 mile trip, SolsticeWolf, I even have a friend in Birmingham to talk into car pooling with you . The trailers worked for whetting my appetite.

I hope the rest of the movie is done as good as that clip. Two elements of detail:
1) Just before Bonecrusher cleaves the bus in two, you see his reflection in the window.
2) As Bonecrusher tackles Prime, you see Optimus's wheel still turning!
That's detail!
I appreciate the offer, but I'll pass Have Nashville then the Dragon in August. Have to work sometime!

This is the only movie that has really gotten me excited for the summer. I'll be going Tuesday night for the premier with some friends, but if you make the Monclair one for the weekend, I might be able to make it up there. It's about 100 miles or so, not that far.

That'd be great!!!
Remember, this won't just be at any theatre, this'll be at one of the last remaining Drive-ins around here. Your vote for the weekend is noted. Pass the word along. If we're gonna pack the lot, we'll need more than a few of us.

...Lando black... Haven't gotten around to it, yet.
Tahoe was such a blast; you sure you don't want to make the drive to see a movie with us?
Sounds good. I also got a lead on a professional bbq-er. He's been doing this for years, has the huge smoker & everything. We'll have to figure that part out as we go along.
If you know anyone who could make the trip, let them know.

Would love to attend, but the only night that works for us is July 5. Already have plans for the 4th, Chris starts working nights on the 6th.
We also had a blast at Tahoe!

This sounds like a lot of fun. I am not sure i will be able to make it but I will try.
Can you imagine a line of Sols and Sky in the drive-in. We should all lift our hoods and trunk lids at the same time. The our people on the drive-in will think our cars are "TRANSFORMING"!
