Ed and I went to Yosemite today for a pre-run for the May 3rd run. It was a beautiful day, we also did a little recruiting while we were there, we actually ran into a very nice couple from the Sacramento area that have had there Sky for a month, then we saw a Red Solstice parked by Hetch Hetchy and put a WCKCC card under the wiper blade! The park was the most congested I have ever seen it today which was a bummer, we had a really hard time finding parking in the valley today. I spoke to a Ranger and explained our club was coming in 2 weeks (he actually remembered us from our run in Oct) he explained to me that part of the congestion was due to the fact that the valley floor is the only place with open roads right now, Glacier Point and Tuolumne Meadows were both closed and may not be open in 2 weeks. There is also a major road construction job underway and we waited 30 minutes getting into the park and about 10 minutes getting out. We took a detour on the way home to Hetch Hetchy which is 15 miles off the main road down to the Dam, it was a very nice drive and you can actually walk out onto the Dam. So this is my scouting report. Barb

WOW, I would love to go on the Yosemite trip but already have plans that weekend with my Women on Wheels group. I just found this forum and have had my Solstice since Feb. 06 so I will definitely be checking it out now and hope to be meeting all of you soon.
I live in Carmichael and am surprised there aren't any members in Sacramento or any closer than Elk Grove. I am trying to enter my post on the members list but can't find the members edit on the toolbar. What am I missing?
Susie
Your run is on the same day as the twisting to the river run over here on my side but in Ohio. Will take a few hours for us to caravan down there. Will be fun to compare pics and vids with you all. I'll be sporting the WCKCC ball cap and the window sticker but wearing a MKC shirt I'll look confused...

I am sorry to hear you aren't going to make it. Still if there is a chance.....

You are right, Mike, the Gizmo of two years ago would have been all over California and jumping on this Yosemite cruise, fer shure. But the Gizmo of two years ago was a single man.
My wife Sandra needs a little time to get acclimated to life in the U.S. But I will be showing off to her the wonderful sights in California in the near future. In the meantime, she and I will have to content ourselves by checking out the photos you lucky people will be posting.

My wife and I are looking forward to making this our first meet. We will be coming in from Bakersfield so I don't know if there are any others heading out from around here but maybe we can make the drive together.

Hiya Luke,
Glad you are going to join us!
I'm a bit south of you, in Port Hueneme, Ventury County.
My friend and I are driving up to Oakhust on Friday, and then to meet with everyone in the park on Saturday morning. That way we don't have to rush to get there before 11:30 AM.
If you want , maybe we could arrange to meet at the hotel when you up on Saturdeay morning. Let me know, and I'll PM you the details.
(That also goes for anyone coming up Hwy 41 to the park)
Welcome to the group, Mr and Ms Luke. :-)

Congradulations Giz!
We look forward to welcoming your new wife into your "California" family.

Thomas....Thomas....Thomas....it's called a "window sticker" for a reason, you are not supposed to wear it! Please pull it off your forehead and place it in the "Demon's" windshield.
You are missed my friend. Have a great ride and we will definitely need to share some pictures!
LukeJJones, I hope you don't mind, I added you to the list. If you are going to be able to join us for lunch, you might want to post your sandwich selections.
I am not sure who the sandwich elf is, but 1 turkey on wheat and 1 Roast Beef with cheddar on sourdough please.

AW MAAAN!!! But it is what I was using to help keep the ball cap stuck to my head and not blowing off. You know I don't have a lot of hair to hold it down. FINE!! I just bought some double sided sticky tape. I'll use that instead and put the WCKCC "window sticker" back in the lower right corner of the windshield where it belongs.
I told Fred last night in a PM that we are over 50 cars now for the run here. It's going to be crazy. Glad I'll be able to spot mine quickly in the crowd
We miss you guys. Have fun.

We are having trouble finding a babysitter for our two children. We are still planning on making it, we just need the grandparents to come through for us. What is the latest that we should post sandwich orders? I don't want to cause confusion by putting in our order until I am sure that we can make it.
I am very bummed but I will not be able to attend the Yosemite meet.
I found out my father needs to have his heart valves replaced. He is 87 yeard old. I am very worried.
The surgery will be next week and I will be going down to LA to help out.
I am sure you will all have a great time. I look forward to all the pictures.
Chance, thank you for the CD with all the great photos of the Central Coast run.
Both my wife and I thank you for the card and the kind words.
