I registered today so that's done. We are not sure what day we will be leaving for this national event (2day event!!!). May leave on Saturday and take our time depending on how many others make the caravan with us. Would be nice to have available printed routes for runs Tuesday through Thursday. I will probably do some kind of run after a quick look at the car show on Saturday. I understand you (Rob) are heading out around noon on Saturday. I would think the dinner would be scheduled for Sat night as it has in all the past nationals. I'll keep watching these posts.

If they schedule something for Saturday, we might stay one more day to participate. But we are not getting any info

I'm not familiar with Colorado, Utah, or Arizona. How about considering splitting up the route from Denver a little differently? Google shows four hours to Grand Junction followed by more than 7 hours into Flagstaff. I think you talked about friends and/or relatives in Grand Junction, but maybe a longer drive on Saturday could leave time for a drive through Grand Canyon National Park on Sunday? Or maybe we just add a day to the trip down and arrive Monday afternoon.

(No reservations yet. Still on the fence.)

I am guessing that we will have 5-6 cars from Denver and 1 or 2 from Grand Junction. When I mapped the route, it was about 11 hours going through Grand Junction and 11.25 hours going via the southern route. We stop about once every 90 minutes for a 10 minute break and half an hour for lunch so 11 hours driving time is more like 15 hours of travel time. Thus the two day trip.
Also, since we are picking up people in GJ it just makes sense to go that way.

Right now its looking like this for our plan:
Saturday - travel to GJ ~5 hours, lunch downtown, socalizing and then dinner
Sunday - travel to Flagstaff, (7 hours plus stops) 5pm check in
Monday - breakfast, maintenance, walk the town, eat, relax
Tuesday -breakfast, maintenance, take a cruise, shopping, eat, recover
Wednesday - same as Tuesday, different cruise and shopping opportunities
Thursday- breakfast, visite site/coordinate, if anything is going on at the site, decide to participate or take another self paced cruise.
Friday - NASSM activities - cruise, set up for night/light car show, venders, socialize
Saturday-Need more information from the organizing group. If there are events that are compelling may decide to stay Saturday, else depart for home so can get back to work on Monday.

Cool Big Ditch Tour

Here is a fair plan to start with. I would run it clockwise, the drive south from Flagstaff on I-17 is nice down to Camp Verde (Great gas mileage too! )

Depart 10AM, lunch in Prescott Valley, has a bunch of places that are National Chains, and then back up the hill to Flagstaff through Jerome, Cottonwood and Sedona. Total ~4 hrs. More time if shopping/stopping is included.

Looks like fun to Me!

Steve

FYI. If we decide to see the Big Ditch, we will run this one counter clockwise. Radisson Woodlands Hotel Flagstaff to Radisson Woodlands Hotel Flagstaff - Google Maps
Update: Went yet again to the NASSM website. There sure isn't much there.

I updated link for the Big Ditch tour above, Google hosed it somehow????

I also looked for Bio Breaks and Food for the Big Ditch Tour. Not too much available for fast food and whatever you get is going to be pricey. I read that the dollar Menu in Tusayan at Micky D's is $3 , and the best bet is Wendy's where their markup is only $1 to $1.29. There are sit downs and cafeterias inside the Park.

Bio Breaks are located inside the Park, doesn't seem to be much outside of it except for the Fast Food joints.

My thoughts right now are to run this one in very small groups, if you haven't seen it before, you will look longer that folks that have. I am also thinking this would be a good morning departure so you don't get too many windshield reflections up and back. YMMV

Any day would be a good day to drive it. Total Miles = ~200 and Total Time = (TBD).

I am penciling this Big Ditch Tour in on my Dance Card for Friday June 21st, the Summer Solstice.

Steve

Still working on the Jerome Journey.

Does look like some good plans. I expect I will do some runs with whoever wants to hook up and take our time. I'm not sure how many will be coming from MI and thinking group may be small. Talk to you there and may hook up or cruise in separate group. At least there is some planning and information here!!

Wow, they really stepped up!

Lots of new cruises added. Very nice.

Now we have an event clearly worthy of the name.

Good job guys.

I'm all registered and will be leaving from Michigan with Wicked Mikes group this will be our 5th National event and there is a group of 5 or 6 kappas that have been caravaning to these National events since Colorado, sometimes the journey is as good as the destination. I'm sure that when all the bugs get worked out this will be another stellar event.
