Okay BC Solstices and Sky's this is the next idea we were thinking about for later on this summer.
It would be a fun-run style rallye, speed and time are not important, but having fun is!
We would provide printed out directions for all participants, the drivers and navigators (yes you would need a co-pilot for this one folks) would follow the turn-by-turn driving directions while trying to find answers to questions, clues, and local sights & scenery.
The area we were thinking of was the north shore, (North Van's centennial is this year), a variety of scenic twisties from Horseshoe bay to deep cove and lots of fun things in between would be included. The Alpine part comes from the two or three hillclimbs up the local mountains, there would be some great views from up there!
If you are interested please reply to this thread and let us know what time/dates are good or bad for you. At the moment we would be looking at weekends in July/Aug/Sept, so please help us out in picking the date. Thanx!

I'll start, for planning the route we've got 75-80% of it done, we just need to type it and preview drive it, so that's no problem at all for planning this event. I will have the summer off as of June 15th so I can do alot of the planning work leading up to this event, but Lorraine and I wouldn't mind if other people wanted to help out too.
However, I am not gonna be around in Mid-August. I will be going to Calif. from Aug 12-22. So for me I would like to push this event back until after the 22nd of August.
I was thinking the weekend of the 25th or 26th of August. This would be the weekend BEFORE the labour day weekend.
How does that sound?

Shortie antennae
Removed Silver "Pontiac" from drivers rear
Solstice cover on air bag light
I was thinking the weekend of the 25th or 26th of August. This would be the weekend BEFORE the labour day weekend.
How does that sound?
My mind is already in Tahoe
I'm leaving today for the WCKCC Tahoe Event this weekend... but hey August 25th sounds great and I will work on MORE people to bring across the border with me!! I leave the next weekend for Puerto Rico for a cruise
Anyways, I was gonna preview drive the route and make some modifications etc on the go this thursday. I might have to alter + adjust a few things to avoid traffic jams and pick the best roads to drive. I also need to make the puzzle clues + questions.
Why this Thursday? Because it's the Summer Solstice of course!
I should have a complete set of directions and stuff sorted out by Saturday (typed), so all we would need to do is get the word out to all our Solstice and Sky buddies. People will need to sign up in advance so I can print enough directions for each car.
One question for everyone, should we keep this a Sol+Sky meet or also invite other cars? The Tulip Rallye in Washington State had a bunch of different car makes, but I'm worried that we would be overwhelmed by the larger car clubs if they signed up.

We would be starting in the same location as the Whistler run Lori, I dunno if that helps much but since you know where it is you could guide people there if there was a convoy.

Not too sure how our summer's shaping up but we'd sure like to see everyone again at this run. The Whistler run was great! Will confirm shortly, but the w/e of Aug 25/26 looks good for us so far. We'll keep checking back to see how the plans are coming along. If there's anything we can do to help from our end, please let us know. Thanks Psycho- Squirrel.

I called everyone on the contact list. A few people I couldnt get a hold of but those who were home seemed pretty pumped up about this event.
I added a few names to the preliminary list in the first post. If you would like to attend but dont see your name there please reply to this thread or pm me.

So far we have 15 cars, I hope we can draw a few more.
I will try to get some info in the local newspapers here. Check out the Driving sections of the Sun+Province before Aug 25th, hopefully we can hype the event a bit with their help.
If anyone wanted to help plan a few details we could get together again for coffee. Last time Sol-Seeker (Lorraine) and I met up at Granville Island. I know Tootsmulligan, Rader (Janice) and MsDahlia (Nancy) mentioned that they could help. Did anyone else want to be involved in some of our planning? (The route is basically done, but planning for food and goody bags or swag is still TBD).
