The more the merrier. Solstices, Skys, Fieros whatever.
I was thinking we should start in Ambleside park, we have had group meets there before and then we can go along the shoreline road (scenic and fun) to join up later on the sea to sky near horseshoe bay.

Ambleside is easy to find too, I was just thinking of the Island participany having to backtrack that much. I'll see if a couple of Fieros want to go once we have a consensus on time and place to meet.
Crossing my fingers on weather.

Ambleside isnt that far from the ferries at horseshoe bay (5 min or so), and it has been our traditional starting point for various solstice cruises in the past so we are usually to be found starting there. Besides it's nice and scenic for a group pic by the bridge and Stanley Park.
Is 9:30 am okay for people? I figure leave before 10 am, Whistler by 12 noon-ish for lunch. Maybe with a stop over in Squamish for gas (cheaper there) and stretch/bathroom break.
I really want to stop at Brandywine falls for some pictures, but I can do that on the way back if necessary. There is a beautiful waterfall there and an easy trail to get to it. So if people don't mind the stop we could all stop there too.

Wish I had a trunk big enough to put my camera gear in.....
I'll tell the Fiero boys about the arrangements. We should bring this thread to the top again in a week or so in case there is anyone elese that wants to join in.

Dead easy. Get off the ferry and head east on the Upper levels until you come to Taylor Way. Take the off ramp and go down Taylor Way to marine Drive, right for a few blocks (you'll see the playing feilds toward the water) and turn left on 13th St., which enters the Ambleside park one block down.
There are other exits you could take a little earlier, 15th being the best one, if you feel confident or Mapquest it. If you need an address to feed in, 1330 Marine Drive isthe police station at the corner of 13th and Marine.

Here's a map, I am pretty sure the big red arrow is at the 13th street entrance to the park, it is on the north side of the Lions gate bridge (also on map file) so it is an easy location to get to, with a fairly large parking lot.

Hey Brian you know what happened last time you stopped for pictures and a pee break! You might need a guard for your car while your photoping!

Don't forget to bring your camera and a full tank of gas.
Yeah, I'm good.
Hey, I didn't know there was room for a camera in these cars.....

Bad news for the waterfalls (for those of you interested) Brandywine Falls park, the parking lot itself, has been blocked off for the Olympics . . . . 4 months from now! Doh!! Supposedly they are using it for security vehicles, etc so we can't get in there. I still might stop on the Hwy shoulder to see if I could walk in to the trail there but dunno if they will freak out over me breeching their "security zone" BS. Seriously, the games don't happen for months, why close the park? Are terrorists going to attack the park?
Instead we could check out the Shannon Falls park in Squamish, equally scenic stop along the way for some nice pictures.
