This seems to be working so I think it deserves an official thread for it.
"So it's official. Everyone who can come to Alberta please save the date!
July 14, 2007 is the official date for welcoming Teri(SkyBaby) to Canada for her book. We will be meeting in Calgary. I am picking such a summer date because by then the city is guarenteed to have the roads cleaned up, cause wow the potholes/gravel are bad. More details to come as time goes on, but for now this is the date. Just as a note, it could change, but a weekend in July should be set. I would love to be doing a nice drive to Banff, since it is about 1 hour from Calgary, maybe 1.5 hours tops. And it's a nice drive into the mountains.
CdnSkyGuy is coming over from Saskatchewan for it, so all of you other Canadian Sky's don't be afraid to make the drive!
So I want to start making a tentative list of those who can make it. I will confirm with everyone as the date gets nearer.
Anyone friendly with a hotel manager? Maybe we can get a good deal. Are we gonna head to Banff early and do Lunch then take pics all afternoon...back to Calgary and have a nice dinner, drinks (just 1 or 2) and night cruise?
This was posted on the mirror thread in the Sky forum. Sounds like he has the right idea. Meet in Calgary, drive to Banff take pictures, then back to Calgary for supper.
So over on the Sky forum I was just informed that the Stampede is July 6-15, so us out of towners would be hard pressed to get a hotel nice enough to park a bunch of kappa's at within 100 km's of Calgary.
So with that being said, I see two options. I can change the date to July 21st (I have a wedding I was going to skip on the 14th anyways) or we out of towners can, well, start booking hotels now?
Ninja Edit: I mean it only really affects us out of towners, and I know one guy on the Sky forum would prefer to do it over the Stampede. I don't mind doing it over the Stampede i'll just book my room super early and advise the others to do the same.
You guys let me know.
Thanks

Sounds like fun, won't be able to make that date (14th) as I am working at the firehall that day. The Banff cruise will be fun, done a few in our Z06 with a bunch of Vettes, nothing like a line of beautiful cars all similar heading down the highway!

It's not easy living 30 minutes from some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, but someone has to.
Sounds like fun! Unfortunately I never know exactly what's going on with my work schedule, so I won't be able to commit for 100% sure, but if I can make then I'll be there

Cool. I saw a yellow Sky a couple weeks ago heading north on Crowchild at Kensington. Maybe that was you?
I expect that was me - there is another gentleman with a yellow Sky Redline on order at one of the dealers, but so far I haven't seen any other yellow Skys in the Calgary area. I do drive that section of road fairly often.

I met that guy. He was the shuttle driver for Stampede. Gave me a ride to my office when I had my GXP in to get the passenger seat latch replaced (it broke when I put the seat back and got caught by the seat belt buckle). He said his wife had ordered a yellow Sky Redline.
Well, I've seen more Skys now in Calgary than I've seen Solstices. I was driving down Crowchild one day and a really nice Silver Sky pulled up beside me. The driver and I chatted for a bit at the lights and then parted ways. It was really nice speaking with someone else who has this kind of car. I also saw a red sky driving near City Hall the other day. The weather has been nice here for a while so there's more nice cars around. My neighbour is even driving his yellow Lamborghini Gallardo now. I'm always on the lookout for Solstices, but so far this year... nada... oh wait... I remember seeing one very briefly driving at John Lauri and Shaganappi (near where I live). It was a black mysterious. We were going in opposite directions, but I was kind of hiding in amongst a bunch of other cars waiting at the light, so he wouldn't have seen me.
It'd be nice to have a small get-together sometime before the big July meet.
