Well some of us just completed the Tulip Rally in La Conner, it was a blast, my first time. I've never seen the tulips in bloom before, and there were a lot of interesting cars in attendance.
Psycho-Squirrel and I were talking about planning another run with our Solstice and Sky friends now that the warm weather is upon us.
Is anyone interested in getting together in July or August? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Some suggestions that have been offered include a run up to Penticton/Osooyoos to a vineyard for a tour.....Skybright had suggested a tour of Hope and the surrounding area followed by a barbeque. The Fraser Canyon has also been suggested, with the circle coming back via Lillooet and Whistler through Squamish.....it's beautiful and hot there, with lots of twisty roads and scenery.
Do we want to plan a run, or is everyone into their own plans this summer? I've seen quite a few more Solstices on the road.
Please post suggestions if you have any, are interested, and want to spend a fun day with your car buddies.
Also date suggestions would be helpful so we don't conflict with vacation plans. If there is no interest then we'll leave things as they are!

Well here's my 2 cents,
If you Vancouver folks can get with the Calgary folks on a date (weekends please) anytime this summer, I may be able to co-ordinate a meet-up location here in the Okanagan. Van folks could choose a route up, and a different one back. Coquihalla, Canyon, Crows Nest or Sea to Sky matters not to me. Calgary/Edmonton folks could do Yellowhead, Rogers, Crows Nest (well 2 of the 3).
The sky is the limit up here if you're into resort living. BUT - act soon, as the Okanagan fills up quickly. Maybe you want to make a long weekend of it, with a day to spend here - Okanagan living?
I would target late July or early August personally.
I love the idea of bringing "Calgary" and "Vancouver" together. And yes, us Vancouverites could travel the canyon route one way, and another the other way.
Not sure about camping, as we're so low on storage space....but we may be able to source reasonable lodgings if we have a number of people. Bed & Breakfast type of idea???
Where is everyone?????

I have wanted to do a west coast (BC+AB) meet for a while but I have too much to do planning for my own vacation this summer. I will be away mid July to beginning of Aug.
I hope someone or a group can help organize an event. Would Revelstoke be a good location or is it too far? Many people have expressed ideas about a winery tour into the Okanagan, would september be best for that? Myabe A weekender sorta deal, drive up stay one night then back on the sunday?
Also, Maria + Gian were pretty keen last time I talked to about a cruise to their cabin near Hope for a summer BBQ (maybe August?). If anyone has specific weekends they prefer or want to help organize it please chip in with your $0.02
P.S. we need a role call for all interested BC/AB solstices, so please let us know by replying below if you are active on the forum and interested in a large group meet.

I'm in, and my vote is for somewhere in the Okanagan, but Salmon Arm, Revelstoke, 3 valley gap etc. would also be Ok by me. September may be pushing it for good weather over the Coq and Rogers.
I think a BC/AB meet would be a great idea. We're planning on doing the Columbia River Gorge drive in June - anybody else from BC going down? So, July or August sounds good for an interior cruise.
I am interested - I am here in Calgary and willing to travel but weekends only as I have no summer vacation days this year.
Anyplace I would go would have to be a one day drive and no farther. It could be held anywhere - it is just that I cannot do more than a one day drive.
I will be watching this develop.
Cheers on a Friday night from the Red Mile.

I thing we're broaching this subject on another thread, but yes, I would be interested in some sort of overnight trip out west.

Okay then, there is some interest for a BC/AB meet.
So if you are one of the people interested, pick your weekend, and explain why that Saturday/Sunday is best. Hopefully everyone can agree to some reasonable date/time/place.
I don't think there are any holiday weekends in there, so we only need think about avoiding bad weather. Also, choosing a location is still something we need to consider. Ideas anyone? Personally I like Vernon, Kelowna, or Revelstoke, BC those towns are large enough to have a few hotel choices.
Here are our weekend choices:
Aug 2
Aug 9
Aug 16
Aug 23
Aug 30
Sept 6

Revelstoke, BC looks like a great spot. So far I have no preference on which weekend in Aug. Sat/Sun is best for some people that have no holidays left, I would take off a Fri or Monday to make it a 3 day weekend. Both places you posted have reasonable room rates. Lets see what others think.

I will let those familiar with the area choose that part... I am down for coming up!!!
Only preference is to NOT make it Aug 9th.... as that is the all important 'Formula DRIFT at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. Ask Sol-Seeker and Psycho-squirrel!! And I hope some of you consider coming down for that
