Is anyone keeping track of who is going and from where?
For everyone going from the lower mainland and island I think we should all meet up in Langley around 200th street, really early so we can take a nice cruise. Below is a map of the drive. It shows it to be a 6 hour drive. So I would suggest we meet by 7am as this will give us a chance to stop at the Othello tunnels, lunch and still make it to Vernon in plenty of time.

I'm coming from 200th and 44th and would be happy to find a meeting location for 7:00 a.m. on Friday Aug 8th.
I will check backwards on the thread and write down all the names of the people wanting to drive up to Vernon at that time with the group.
If anyone hasn't indicated that they will be travelling from Langley to Vernon on Friday please post to this thread to be included!
King Oka.....will you be finding somewhere for us all to wash our cars before the car show Friday night?

Sounds like Vernon is it. I'll make an executive decision and say it is. So we have Vernon on August 9th. I count 12 so far possibles including;
King-Oka Brendand WowWii Skybright Psycho-squirrel Sol-Seeker
Olson Big Guy Kimbo
Rader Leather SaltSpringSky Thunder 06 Billski mbannon
with M Pearl,Miner and PurAngl sending regrets.
Did I miss anyone? Would y'all like to use the same accomodations? Would you like me to book something for everyone? Should I plan some events for Saturday afternoon, evening and Sunday morning? Wine tours? Road rallies? Photo opps?
OK Folks, I think the list is up to date, with 13 Solstice members confirmed. I know of a few local cars who will also likely attend. I'll leave it up to y'all to organize your drives, hook-ups and times.
Yes - there are several coin washes in town, so that won't be a problem, or if you want you can ALL come to my place Friday afternoon for a wash up. Yes - I can accomodate you in my driveway. I'm 10k east of town though, so if you're pressed for time the coin wash will be quicker.
If you're early (say 3:00pm Friday )and looking to kill some time, have a swim or swill a beer, you are most welcome at my humble abode. I'm 10K out on Hwy 6 - look for the Green Solstice.
I still have to make arrangement with Davidsons Orchards, Okanagan Spirits, Grey Monk Wineries, and O'Keefe Ranch. I don't expect any issues anywhere, but wanted a head count before I did this. Everyone OK with the following itinerary;
Friday afternoon till 4:30pm - wash up at Geoffs
Friday night - 5:00pm till whenever - Show & Shine on Vernon main drag
Saturday morning - meet for breaky (Dennys is in your hotel if that's Ok)
Saturday morning - O'Keefe Ranch at 10:00am - brief photo session - bring your horse
Saturday morning - Cruze Vernon - other photo-opps (I've got a route planned)
Saturday morning - Setup for show & shine at Kin Beach (those who do not wish to attend other venues, and would rather take in a day at the beach)
Saturday noon - Davidson Orchards - pick peaches or stop and buy
Saturday afternoon - Grey Monk Wineries or Show Shine poker run - your choice
Saturday afternoon - Stop at Okanagan Spirits fruit Brandy shop in downtown Vernon
Saturday evening - BBQ dinner at Kin park + Show & Shine
Sunday in Kalamalka Park - Show& shine finale, or alternate - brunch at Lake Okanagan resort on the return to Vancouver via Westside twisty road. (Sorry Alta folks, this may count you out, but I can recommend hwy 6 if you're up for a twisty adventure of your own.)
I mailed my car show registration and cheque today.
I'm a night owl, so anything too early will be not great for me. I'd rather not be really tired while I'm driving that long a distance. But I'd be ok with a 9:00 am meetup at COP. On our way by 9:30. But maybe I'll be able to actually go to sleep sometime before 2 am at that time so maybe I'd be able to leave earlier.
My car will definitely need a good wash after that drive. I went to a coin wash today because I got caught in a rain shower on the way to work this morning. I had JUST detailed my car on the weekend and this was the first day I drove the car. The weathernetwork.com said there wouldn't be any rain today. They lied.
Anyway, my car looks like crap when it's all dirty. I'll need time to use some detail spray on it too because those coin washes don't do any good on the dirt. The only way to get my car clean seems to be the 2 bucket method. But I won't have enough room to bring ALL my cleaning supplies. I'd probably need a trailer for that!
I'm very worried about what kind of rock damage there will be on the front from such a long drive. I don't have a clear bra for the car.

I think if I buy any more cleaning supplies, my wife is going to kill me!
I'll have to just live with it.
Anyway, Wowii, I was thinking about those place cards you were working on and I thought it would look cool if you added the Solstice car logo to the top of them. I have a copy of the graphics if you need them, including the proper SOLSTICE text.

I'll provide a bucket or two and some good soap, if you show up at my place. We'll figure soemthing out for you out of towners needing to detail.
Why would rock damage be any worse on the highway than in the city? I think it'll be fine in August - just don't tailgate.
I've taken the car up to Prince George, as well as many shorter trips to Kamloops and such, and I've never had a bra. I have small chips in various places, but on the dark metallic grey they aren't that noticable.
I don't follow trucks with loads of gravel, and when I pass a truck on the highway I wait until I have enough room to get right by him, rather than driving beside the big tires that may spit rocks out.

And congratulations to you too! May I ask what degree it is you attained?
Yes, I graduate from a two year course in Occupational Health and Safety from the U of Alberta - equivalent to the 2 years BCIT course in BC.
I think there is a lot to be said about going back to school later in life! I will be sending good thoughts your way on June 9th!
And now back to your regular programming!
Sorry Miner, I didn't respond re my degree....it's a degree in local government. I'd like to be a City Clerk when I grow up!!! Thanks for asking!
