Other than PurAngl who would be against meeting a week later Aug 9th weekend?
The hotels would be much easier to book then and there would be no holiday traffic issues.
I'm good for the August 9th weekend.

I would be definitely in for a trip up to the Okanagan. Say Kelowa. Bed and Breakfast great if there was a group involved. August 2nd or 3rd would work just fine for me. I don't know how others are for this date. But yes, definitely interested.

Brian... you were there last year. The DRIFT is not something to be missed. Sorry you feel that way unless you just forgot why I said I wouldn't go to Canada on Aug 9th.
Sorry Lori, the formula drift was interesting last year, but I'm more of a race fan than drift fan and I dunno if I would go again. Too many young-ish drift fans trash talked our cars at that event and it kinda turned me off especially since these twits likely didn't even know how to use a stick shift let alone spell "clutch" or "torque" and here they were talking smack about Rhys and the Solstice GXP drift car!
But if Aug 9th works for this okanagan meet then we might just have to go with it. Sorry about the conflicting events Lori.

Sorry Lori, but I'd be in for Aug 9th. Currently my man can't make the Aug 2nd weekend.
The drifting was amazing, but I'm getting discouraged at planning lodging on a long weekend for this trip.

I'm leaning towards kelowna now, but I don't want to spend a fortune for one nights accomodation. The covelakeside is available on the 9th, but it is also $500+ for that night!
Anyone got ideas for the hotel? Or can someone help swing a deal to fix a rate for us?

I am not sure at this time if I can make Aug. 9th, I will have to let you know later. My cousin is arriving from Calif. on August 1st and wanted to to the wineries in the Interior. So, I thought this would work nicely on the 2nd. But I really don't want to do it twice. So, I am currently in thinking mode. Now you have all confirmed for the 9th and I know it is a challenge. I will follow the threads through and let you know later. Sounds like fun and a huge challenge to plan on short notice. Good Luck.

Hi gang - I've got an e-mail out to the Ramada Lodge in Kelowna - full service hotel right across from Orchard Park for those who like to shop. Will let you know what they have for availability and what the room costs are when they answer. Am researching the 9th, but no commitment (of course) at this time.
Here is the reply I have from the hotel in Kelowna.
"thank you for your inquiry into the Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre in Kelowna. We have 9 rooms available for August 9th. Our standard rate is $189 plus taxes per night, however, we can offer you a rate of $159 plus taxes per night based on 2 adults occupancy as you are taking 9 rooms."
This is based on a group booking, we know it can be done if we choose to do so. I don't know how many are interested, so took a wild guess.
