Are there any Sky or Solstice clubs in British Columbia?
I live on Vancouver island and i know a few guys that also have saturns skys and we go out for drives every now and then but theres just 3 of us.
Is there anyone else that lives on the lower island that has a sky/sol?
If there arnt any clubs in BC or at least the island maybe someone should start one.
I think you found us, see BC buds thread for our "lounge".
We've been informally formed for a few years now.
Squirrel,
Maybe it's time we were formally formed? It's nice to be part of the US group, but a Western Canada Kappa Club could be a good thing - group buys, events, etc. How about a poll to see who's interested?

I'm all in More local drives, cruise-ins, get together's etc. Portland is great but a touch far for us Northerners. And there are great twisties to be had all around Van Isle, The Okanagan and Fraser Valley. Plus many car events to attend.
Sorry for the rapid fire, A track day/night at Rivers Edge would be awesome, a chance to legally test our cars and individual abilities. 1/4 mile and road course.
Yeah, cause i havnt already tested my car on the road...
and i havnt gone 150km/h on the highway. No way not me.
and i didn't loss my license for 4 months for 1 speeding ticket and 1 excessive speeding ticket.
Nope not at all...
But yeah that sounds fun.

I haven't gone 180kmh on the highway and I wouldn't like to break the 200kmh barrier
1. A name. At first this appears easy to do, but many groups have split and fought over the terminology they wanted to use, or disliked and this caused a surprising amount of long term problems between members in other clubs.
2. Rules/dues/formalization. Alot of our current group enjoy the informal nature of our "club" they have said to me that they don't want to be members of a formal car club, so it might be hard to force someone into it.
3. Legal crap. If we were formally a club we might have to sign some waivers etc in case of any stupidity resulting in accidents during a cruise/event. This would suck.
4. We already get alot done as an informal group with "affiliation" to a variety of formal clubs in the Pacific region. We have done cruises, meets, car shows, rallies, wine tours, scenic drives etc. So I'm not sure if a formal named club would change much? We already have had a bucket full of events over the years, all were free, all were fun.
Believe me I have tried to get us all formalized, see how long I have been registered here at the forum. Some people have stayed very vocal and active on the forum here, which helps us stay in touch. Whereas others have met us once or twice and disappeared, never to be seen or contacted again, which is frustrating . . . really frustrating when trying to get a club going.
If you are interested in going through with the process of creating a formal club we could do it, but there is alot of work to be done. Simply contacting the 30+ people we know of is difficult since some are really hard to get a hold of.

Well, a rose by any other name is still a rose right? How about "Western Canada Kappa Club"?
No legals, no dues, no worries. Just a name - for the purpose of collecting and contacting folks. Then we can decide - over lunch sometime, if we want a newsletter, mail contacts, schedules of events, etc, and how we want to keep in touch with each other.
Yeah i raced a corvette today and of corse got smoked but i made it up to 170km/h, damn those things have soo much torque.
Have a Western Canada club would be awesome!!!

Shouldn't be THAT difficult .. should it?
I like the concept but there is still going to be a fair bit of organizing required and that takes time and work. Sign me up for helping in whatever way I can.
It seems to me the "West Coast Fiero's" have a similar club with limited rules and lots of fun. I know they'll be at "The All Pontiac Meet" in Surrey on June 14th. I'd be willing to talk with some of our cousin's in the interest of gathering info.
Another issue it seems would be a website or contact point. As it is, we all connect here or on the other site. If we formed a new club that may not be possible. A new website is do-able but way beyond most peoples skill set or time limitations. Would it be possible to link as an affiliate to an existing club?
We could still use these forums, see the club sub sections listed in the regional discussions, once formed we would hopefully be allocated our own sub section where we can discuss stuff.
