In general the cut-off in whatever form it takes is between 250 - 500 above the redline on the tach. At least, in all the cars I've driven (American and Japanese) that's where to find it.

yep! hit it all day long in my MSM. Yet to hit it in the sol, and I've gone well into redline, but, what I don't know is, I may have been of the gas just as it went into redline (above redline).....

I haven't been that aggressive yet, so I haven't done it often enough.

at the detroit event i asked the copilot/engineer about this as we were parked at the cub. he told me to floor it as we were parked in neutral. the motor ran up to about 7K and held steady there. i'm not sure what it would do under load, but in neutral the limiter did not cut back the revs at all.

keep in mind, this is a drive by wire engine..

The pedel is connected to a computer which connects to the engine..

That's what it should do. Anything less (cutting out and dropping RPMs) would make anyone who decides to race a Sol very unhappy.

I'm betting the drop in revs was me unconsciously lifting my foot off the gas pedal without realizing it then.

I've hit the fuel cutoff a couple of times in this car and have been pleasantly surprised that it's not as abrupt as the Z3 that I previously owned. Each time I hit it in the Sol, it was just about the point I was going to shift anyway and I just barely felt it kick in and I just proceeded with my shift without giving it much thought. When I hit it in the Z3, it scared the hell out of me a couple of times. Usually, when I did it, I was in the process of hitting it hard to merge smoothly with faster traffic and once the rev limiter kicked in, it was like the car stalled briefly ... the car really lurched and took me off guard completely, which also threw off my transition to the next gear. I'm pretty pleased with the implementation in the Sol so far though.

My cutoff (hit it for the first time today) is smooth, and the needle just bounces off 7100rpms.

Yeah, I went and retested. The RPM drops was me and not the car.

I tried this over the weekend and floored it in first. When the limiter came in the nose of the car seemed to drop and it simply stopped accelerating. There was no harsh cut out and it did not 'bounce' of the limiter like some cars I have driven.

I was pleasantly surprised about how smooth it felt and the natural response is to shift up - you may have hit it but not been expecting it and just naturally shifted to the next gear.

120-125 is hit in 4TH gear. not enough oomph in 5th.

My eclipse had the same setup here. It didn't have the hp to go much further than 125 mph. So instead of throwing the limiter in there where it can't go.. they just didn't put a limit on it. Trust me, i had the neddle pinned at 170 (with the Hahn turbo)..

I can hit 100 in third with no revlimiter/governor kicking in. I've done it frequently just to get a rise out of my wife.

So, Idevine, what happened at the dealer? did they tell you what the problem was and were they able to fix it?
