Norm:

No doubt about the front C/D having the aerodynamics of a brick. Some SUV are getting lower numbers than the Solstice.

What do you believe the front airdam redesign is going to offer in improve airflow? Are you planning any other improvements?

Keep up the great work, your much appreciated!!!!

Hello, without being too radical Im looking to push a little air away from the frontal contact with the rolling tires. Its the rolling tires that present a problem and when looking at the front of a solstice you see how exposed they are. thanks Norm norm's fiberglass home page

i was actually contemplating utilizing a set on a hardtop. Coupled with a proper diffuser they might make a large difference in our extreme wake.

A splitter isn't going to do anything except reduce front lift and increase drag in the process.

ya that's the idea of the splitter to give you down force. What I'm curious about is how it makes drag

It increases drag the same way it increases downforce. Probably gain a little air to the intercooler while blocking some to the radiator intake under the car. Anyone know of the Solstice having too much lift at the front end or the rear for that matter. Cornering at speeds in excess of 100 mph some downforce would be welcome but would need big spoilers & splitters which will cut into your top speed, mileage & tire wear. Just get a peel & stick fake hood scoop & call it a day.

Whenever you increase downforce (or just reduce lift) your more than likely going to increase drag. You're essentially pushing the vehicle downward and increasing it's resistance to forward motion.

Actually by removing the turbulent air from under the car with a splitter does more to reduce drag then the harm it may cause from protruding from the car, canards will add turbulence but once again its purpose is to control air turbulence along the side of the car and move it away from the rolling tires, once again reducing overall drag at speed.
Once a car is properly set up with ground effects, and you learn to use them properly i.e. the faster you drive it the better it holds the road, it's an amazing thing. The convertible top and flying buttress design does more to harm the aerodynamics then anything.
