I found this while on the Cobalt forum.

Quote:
The SS/TC IS getting 38mm 4 piston fixed caliper Brembo brakes and 12.4" rotors.

The brakes WILL bolt directly to any 5 lug Cobalt. You will need to purchase the two calipers, two rotors, four caliper mounting bolts, and two brake hoses and banjo bolts.

I already have the system entered in to my dealers automated order system and as soon as its available I'll have it.

I dont have any prices yet(they havent been issued) but if anyone wants the part numbers I can post them Tuesday(they are in my toolbox at work)

So does anyone know if the Cobalt's and Kappa's share the same brakes?

Ok, I cant answer that specific question unfortunately, but let me ask you this

Are you looking to get the brembos for looks, or performance?

Because, by upgrading to stainless steel brake lines, better quality fluid (Ford Super blue DOT fluid is a great economical choice) and better brake pads, you will have just as good (if not better) braking then upgrading to the brembos.

What you will gain from the brembos is bigger sweep area, resisting to fade and warping.
Do you track your car at all?

No, but I would also factor in clearance, especially with aftermarket rims.

I have a new HHR SS with the same LNF motor as my old GXP and the regular front
calipers on the SS are WAY bigger than the front calipers on my GXP. They stop
really well too. According to a friend who drove a series of HHR SS's at the
Arizona press preview, the Brembo option which will be available on the SS soon and
be offered on the Cobalt SS, does not stop any better than the new big caliper setup
that is std on the HHR SS. They do last longer tho and that shows up after a number
of laps on racetrack. He saw no difference on street. The HHR SS stock calipers
would be a big upgrade to GXP fronts but you may need a proportioning valve for
balance.

Looks and performance. The rotors on the SS are going to 12.4". But I don't have the money right now anyway, just passing along info.
