The threads about worthless/cheap performance mods continue to come up every now and then. We have even have had a few new members buy this crap, I thought I would do a quick search on ebay under "Solstice" to show what not to buy:

"creates horsepower by directing the intake air into a "tornado". This is totally stupid and does not work but restricts air flow.

Oxygen sensor voltage regulator, this product does an excellent job of screwing up yourcomputer tuning by regulating the O2 sensor voltage. This kills you gas mileage and prevents you from passing emissions!

This chip regulates the intake temp sensor to fool the engine into thinking it's getting cooler intake temps. The computer adds fuel and timing to make up for the false cooler temps. A couple hundred miles later the computer compensates and goes back to what it should be doing.

The fantastic electric supercharger! This is actually an air pump used to move air out of a boat's engine bay. This won't do anything but prevent good intake airflow. Go to your local dyno shops and stand behind a car at full throttle. Experiencing full exhaust with your face will be a pretty good way to understand why a little electric pump wouldn't do anything for your motor.

By the way, there are good electric superchargers but they only produce 5-6 PSI for a few seconds. They are beginning to use electric superchargers for diesels to help kick start the turbo. These "real" electric superchargers also cost about $5,000 too.

Yeah... piggy back ECU chips are 99% snake oil with OBDII electronics. They may work for a while, but the PCM will adapt to the false signals given out by the chip and eventually any performance gains will be negated.

That's not to say that a tuner chip, essentially a new EPROM with reprogrammed fuel/air tables isn't going to work... but something that connects between the PCM and the engine harness will eventually be "learned" around.

Well tonight i was detailing under the hood on mine since the previous owner must have lived on a gravel road or something and i removed the engine cover to see how everything looked and i found something i wasnt too happy to see. Im a car nut and ive known for a couple years or so since they came out that the ebay 25 horsepower instant chip things plastered all over ebay are nothing more than pure junk and do more harm than good. Well when i removed my cover i found one of the ebay contraptions. Its called a rapid velocity performance module. It really makes me question the previous owner on this thing but i guess at 1900 miles he didnt have much time to screw anything up. I took it off and i can tell the car runs better now. Before with that stupid thing on there it was actually hard to take off from a stand still because it was like the motor didnt want to rev until it got to about 1500rpm then it would jump. Now its smooth from the get go and blipping the throttle makes for an easy start at a stop light. There wasnt really any point in my starting this tread other than to step on my soap box for a second for finding this stupid thing in there. Sigh...... oh well.

You might want to disconnect the Battery for a half hour to completely reset the ECU. Then it should run a lot better.
