Got a question for all the folks out there that have installed HAWK pads. I have had them on since Jan '08 and I love the positive feel they give, but I've noticed that they tend to squak when I get in the car as it is parked. They don't make noise while driving and braking; only when I'm parked. I am curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

Yes with the e-brake on, and on a slight incline.

I don't have Hawk pads on the Solstice yet, but I have been using the Hawk HPS pads for YEARS on my '04 Intimidator SS a,d LadyT's '99 Z71. They run quiet and CLEAN. My Intimidator's brakes actually came off the previous car, an '01 SS LE, with 35,000 miles on them. Now at 110,000 miles on them, they are getting close too being replaced, but honestly, could probably hit 150-200,000 miles. The Powerslot/Hawk HPS brake combo is the BEST IMO!
As per noise, I've never experienced any. You didn't say what grade of Hawk pads you are using.
Cost? about $60-90/set, cheaper than MANY pads out there.

We have them on our site starting at $69.96 for HPS fronts and $61.23 for HPS backs.

They are great pads and work really well.

I just installed Hawk HP+ pads for street/autocross use and did the recommended bed-in. Wow are these noisy! I sound like a garbage truck. Anyone else run these on the street? Will that brake quiet stuff help any? I may need to start swapping pads for events.

I put the combo of Powerslots & Hawk hp on a Cooper s. Both are hard & take a long time to bed-in. Weeks! So throwing on a set of HP+ for the ocassional auto-x Thats 0 bed-in. The contour of the pad isn't going to mate to the<(since the last auto-x)> rotors contour. Take a sharpie to the face of the pads before the auto-x & observe after. Swapping rotors & pads as a unit per wheel solves the garbage truck syndrome because the pads now bite the whole rotor. Now you have real brakes that don't fade as soon.

I have hawk HP super duty pads and Baer Decelerotors (drilled/slotted), and Russel SS braided lines on my Tahoe. What a difference. I think the Tahoe stops quicker than the Sol, and it weighs a ton more. They do have a different feel though. Almost like a vibration, but not. They stop great with no fade and no dust. Could I expect the same kind of results with the brakes on the sol

So sounds like my choices are live with the noise, spend $400 for a 2nd set of rotors or maybe just switch to HPS pads for dual duty. Will the noise lessen as the HP+ pads bed-in over time?

I'd go with the other pads if you intended to use the HP+ on the street also.

I went with HPS for street/auto-x events. The price for superior brake material usualy is a trade of for noise. There's really no getting around it.

Did you guys have to file down the "nubs" on the back of the rear HPS brake pads to get them to fit in the calipers? If so, did you file them down flush? Or did your HPS pads not even come with the little nubs on the back?

We carry the HPS as well as Ceramics, and if anyone needs a more aggressive race pad, we can get that for you as well in either Hawk or PFC, Carbotech, or whatever you want. We have extensive track experience (I'm personally a track instructor for the last 4 years or so).

Let us know what we can do for you.
