I can't afford what most of you guys have, so what is the best route to lowering my car that's cost effective and will not cause maintenance issues? It's just an N/A and I only want looks with little comfort loss as possible.
One thought is if I just replace springs? Is that a standard practice or does it cause damage? Keep in mind I am not a racer and only want the looks and ride nothing fancy because I don't have fancy money.
The spring replacement is an option many have gone with including myself, especially if you know someone with a spring compressor and basic mechanical knowledge to save on the labor cost. A lot of times you can also rent spring compressors from somewhere such as auto zone. Another option could be (if you have a good shop around) possibly taking it to a shop and having them chop a bit off the top of your stock springs. Just be careful with this option to go to someone who knows the physics of a spring or they may cut to much off. one inch off the end of a spring may give you more or less than one inch drop. Probably more and you may end up too low and having to pay them for thier time and still go with buying another set.
I'm looking into having the stock fronts cut on mine because the 1 inch sport springs I had on the front with my front kit mad it to low for safe driving and now I have the cracks on the nose to prove it but with the stock nose the 1 inch fronts are perfect.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Yep. those are what I just helped sol scuba put on his a few weeks ago and what I am still running on the rear. When he got his alignment done after they told him he only had about 15 to 20% tread on the ground after the install so it is needed.

I use the Eibach Sportline springs but they would be to extreme for your preference in ride etc. In addition to the Kappasphere springs (made by Eibach, but not so extreme) you should consider B&G springs. I think you'll find the ride most like stock, but with a lower stance and improved handling and braking. Here is a link to the B&G springs B&G Pontiac Solstice Lowering Springs - 1.4-Inch Drop - Best Ride! - Gravana Tuning - 2007 Pontiac Solstice 2.4
Ok it's a toss-up which are better I am torn between the B&G springs with the 1.4 and the kappa sphere which is 1.3 rear.
I am kinda confused with the B&G spring. on there site it only says 1.4 is the front and rear or is it 1 in front and 1.4 in rear? The kappasphere are clear 1 in front and 1.3 in rear.
If someone has the B&G spring can you clarify there front and rear size?
Depending on the response I will order tomorrow.
There are the same exact price for kappasphere and B&G

Both are 1 inch in the front. The .1 inch difference between the two you would not even notice so go with the least expensive which is what you are looking for. Both equaly good springs.

When you lowered it did you need camber kits, I am an former mini trucker and i know that with them u def need it or will the alignment take care of it

After spending you money on wheels, the Kappasphere springs are the way to go, I helped my son put on a pair. Took about 3 hours. two spring compression tools, floor jack and jack stands
There is always the option of cutting the springs, which is very cheap to do. I am not a fan of it usually, but one of the major springs sets being sold matches an OEM spring that had one coil cut off of it perfectly.

Dave,
Thinking of doing this to the front since the 1" Eibachs was too much for mine with the kit on it. Do you know how much drop the one coil lop off gives? it was wierd in my case. The one inch front set and the kit put my nose barely 3 inches off the deck and I paid for it in a pot hole in the dark. I put the stock springs back on the front and now am up 7 inches. I don't get it but it happened. one inch difference in spring (as advertized) made a 4 inch difference after settle time.

you guys sound like serious modifiers and I have 0 experience under a hood or mechanically when dealing with cars. Now if your talking about building a computer I can get into the hood and do some major stuff there but cars..I don't think so. I was just gonna wait for delivery and take the springs to the dealership for and oil change and have the springs installed and alignment done there.
