New! JPM Shifter and shift knobs

Ok, as some of you may have seen from the Saturn Sky buildup we did, JPM has a new shift lever available:

Here is a picture of the first prototype:

The final unit has gone through some functional changes but will be very close in appearance. The boot will sit higher though. There will be two shifter options, a standard heights 5.5" tall shift lever and a shorter version that's 4.5" tall. They will be designed for use with JPM's new shift knob lineup which will include everything from aluminum ball shifters to titanium.

Before I can bring these to market, I need a small test group to use them and offer feedback. The test group will be limited to 10 owners.

I'm not picky so first come first serve. As far as I know, this is the first aftermarket solution for a shift lever and knob in the solstice/sky.

First 10 to post up get the first batch. All you have to do is promise to submit a writeup on your experience with the feel, installation, and normal use of the product. The price per unit will be $225. For this, you will receive:

1 JPM stainless steel shift lever
1 JPM shift knob of your choice (selections to be posted up soon)
1 JPM shift boot made to order per your request

I will also need the trim ring of your current shifter sent to me for boot mounting. You will receive this back with the new lever. I plan on having a replica made up but will have to reuse the stock ones for this first run.

Note that the JPM shift knobs will NOT have a gear pattern in them. I'm still trying to source an engraver for this. The one in the picture was a modified Hurst knob which was made to fit with our design. If this option becomes available later, this first group will have the opportunity to trade up to the new style.

So, post up if you'd like to be one of the first. Thanks.

-Joe

Trade up for an inscribed shift ball??? You mean testers are gonna have to pay even more later?? Doesn't sound like any advantage in being a tester. Usually you get something extra for that.

Will this include automatics?

No autos yet. Sorry. And the trade up would only be the price of the engraving (probably $30 but I'm not sure yet as I have not sourced this). In other words, you won't have to buy anything all over again if something new comes out.

The extra you get out of being a tester is being one of the first ones. The design is solid and has already been in a prototype for over a 1000 miles with no issues or complaints (not that there would be any out of a steel shaft). I just need some feedback on a broader scale on feel, height, etc.

Joe,

I wish I were able to help with this, but the budget simply will not allow it. I do see very possibly getting this in June for my birthday. We may even be down your way then.

No deposit necessary. I still operate on the handshake principle. I'm getting #1 this week to install on a local. I'll start taking payments once all 10 spots are filled or when we start getting close.

Is this shifter changing the pivot point by any chance?

Yes, that's the first prototype. The final product will differ slightly. That one was made with the intention of making a gated shifter (which doesn't work). The new one will be made with a boot in mind.
