The enginneering is amazing, you can adjust the height and you can decide how you want the boot to work, it would be very easy to have the boot flush to the knob, and to raise the knob up an inch or maybe more. You could make another knob work, but would loose a lot of the cool features. This is way more than just a shifter an knob, it is very well enginneered.

Lil goat beat me to the first install pics (I had to work late today) Installation went fairly well without any problems. Here is how things look when you get it all undone:

You will need a 3/16" allen key (I totally wrecked mine so get a cheap replacement one if needed)

Heat gun (to help break the blue lock tite down)

some elbow grease since the shifter is on there pretty good.

The install procedures went off quite well. Here is the final product:

Differences noted between my install and Goats: (Lil Goats pic added for clarity below)

We installed the shifter boot 180 degrees from each other. I was under the impression the side with the full seam was the front. The side with the 3/4 seam was the back (JPM which side is the front?)

I installed the leather boot on Top of the nub leaving a smoother look. LilGoat pulled the boot down over the nub for a different look. Does it matter which way it gets installed?

My setup is curing so I haven't driven it yet, but teh shifter did feel quite nice in the driveway. Will have to see how it performs with a thorough flogging to give a full review. Better pictures tomorrow when it's light outside and possible warmer.

My boot may be the wrong way I never noticed until I took the pictures, windshield was covered in snow and it was freakin cold. The way Morfious did the top of the boot the way I think Joe intended, I was just fooling around and liked it the other way I snugged up the boot and put a wire tie around the base. Joe is working on a replacement ring to match the brushed look of the shifter, I hate that chrome ring.

I agree it was pretty cold out in NJ as well. I would love a new trim ring in brushed finish. Especially since I damaged 1 plastic tab while uninstalling the thing.

Joe is going to make me broke with all the cool things he has for our cars. I love it!!

PS Lil Goat, you gotta get those handles recovered, they look out of place with that slick shifter installed.

Thanks for the reviews guys. Morphius had the right alignment with the boot, complete stitch goes facing the driver. Also, the boot was intended to stay above the wide area in the collar peice but I guess that's all personal preference and look. Needless to say, the look is very customizable.

Let me know how you guys like it after a few laps around town.

Good to know I got things right. Word of warning to others with a heat gun, the batting material under the shift boot can smoke and melt (Don't ask why I know that). Shifter feels quite nice and is a 1000% improvement in appearance from stock. (I hated how the cheap vinyl boot felt while shifting). I don't think I dropped any seconds in the 1/4 mile or anything, but it is comfortable and feels very nice to use. Height is spot on and since the shifter linkage is fully threaded you can adjust the height to your liking. Just need a small dab of blue locktite and you are set (Joe maybe you could provide this (like a small bubble pack) to future customers so they have everything they need right at their fingertips).

Here is a better shot of it installed and a close up of the shifter knob detail:

New Handle is on order, Joe's been busy. I love the way it drives, drove a little more last night, just easier to shift. I am going to paint the chrome ring in a matt silver next weekend. until Joe gets a replacement. Replacement could even just be a cover, might be easier. My shifter boot is done in a "suede" so it isn't shiny at all I love it.

OK it was cold last night, very cold. I had to work today. I was wearing gloves but stopped at Micky De's to get coffee, took off the gloves and grabbed the metal shift knob, man does that get cold . I still love it but must remember to wear gloves.

I have only good things to say about the shifter makes the car shift so much easier. It is a very worth while investment, and if very inexpensive compared to others. My son just bought a new shift lever and knob for his GTO and spent just under $200 and that DID NOT include the custom boot, there is not even a custom boot available for his car or ours you have to do it yourself and they start at $100. This is a great deal. I LOVE IT! Thanks JOE!

Joe,
Can you get me the neck piece like Lil Goat. I swapped out the knob and like the way this looks with the round knob.

swing by the shop when you get a chance. I'll have to check it out to see if it's possible with your setup. The design changed a bit between yours and the others.

Sorry, it's still a package deal. I mean, that shift knob will fit since it's a universal application, but you'd still have to get the whole package.

Hey Scuub, with that shift knob you would loose a lot of the advantage of JPM's setup. The way he does it it makes the shifter shorter and it really helps, that knob would make it taller. There is a lot more engineering in his set up than you can see, the shifter length is adjustable because of the way he designed it. I think the shifter looks much better than stock, but more importantly it WORKS better than stock.

Nice mod. The factory shifter knob and boot is pretty cheesy. I think it all looks cool except that I'd want a brushed aluminum knob that integrates into the interior a little better.

Keep up the good work.
