   Problem installing Eibach springs
Member

Join Date: Jun 2008
2007 base model solstice... just had Eibach Pro Kit installed at Belle Tire / supposed to lower front 1" and rear 1.3" / the rear is fine, but the front went up 3/4" from stock. We took it apart and reinstalled everything, so far it all checks out. Even had Eibach on the phone and can't figure out what went wrong. The next step is to have new springs sent out and go from there... but while waiting I thought that I'd put it out there....

Has anyone experienced any issue like this?

PLEASE HELP...

I don't know about the Pro Kit, but the Sportline will do that if the front and back springs are reversed i.e. front springs installed on rear and rear springs installed on front.

that's what I understand... we ruled that out first by checking the numbers printed on the springs / 001 in front and 002 in the rear.

keep trying...

anyone else?

Did you forget to cut the rubber dampners?

Yes, we did forget to cut them but then went back and did it / but this didn't fix the problem.

I just talked to a very helpful guy at Gravana and he told me that they experienced a couple of issues like this when Eibach first released springs for the Solstice and that they re-engineered the springs and have not had any issue since. Maybe I got some old springs that have been sitting in warehouse for 2 years collecting dust...

Does anyone out there remember any design change for Eibach springs?

Any other suggestions as part of the process-of-elimination???

I should add that Eibach has been extremely helpful as we try to solve this problem.

I was also told to check that the front and rear shocks were put in the proper location...
B900 front and B902 rear. I have C404 front and C406 rear, but they appear the same and the lower spring perches look to be correct.

If I understand you correctly I should expect this to settle more than 1.5"?

How long did this take? and... did you get the full results that you expected?

thanks for the feedback

1. I do remember a number of issues when they FIRST rolled out (1.5-2 years ago) with some springs being too long. So it is possible you got an old stock. Did you purchase them off ebay? (err just re-read and it sounds like Gravana) I got my sportline kit and they settled immediately to the 2" lowered position but i have heard of some people requiring a day or so for it to settle properly.

Forgetting to cut the bump stops shouldn't affect how high it sits, just how far it can travel and not bottom out.

I'd bank on them being the wrong springs (ie: old stock from the first release).
