reBar or DDM Backbone

My Christmas present this year is a going to be either a reBar or a Backbone brace by DDM. Before deciding I would like to hear some testimonials from people who have these currently (or previously) installed. If you have switched between the two please explain why. Thanks in advance.

The ReBar (Kappasphere) and Backbone (DDM) address two different issues with the handling of the Kappa. It's almost impossible to compare the two for that reason.

Please read the description of the ProBeam and the BackBone on this site:
DDMWorks Solstice Products

Substitute ReBar for ProBeam in those descriptions.

I have both the ProBeam and the Backbone installed and together they have proved to be the biggest bang for the buck spent of all the things I've done to this car. I notice the difference in the handling of the car before I was out of the parking lot at the place I installed them.

The reBar seems to install most easily, but that is partly a function of the reduced number of attachment points.

I looked at this carefully when shopping for this sort of product for my car and concluded that the DDM Probeam was the best because it had attachement points to suspension and frame, was reasonably priced, and was easier to install than the Factory ZOK part.

I would also buy the backbone since they have a special right now and you can get it for only $30 more!

I am not as much a fan of the front reinforcement strut.

ProBeam (DDM's and a better design - as told to me by a GM Engineer ) and the Backbone ... together - priceless.

The Backbone significantly reduces the bump steer.
The ProBeam significantly increases the 'hug of the road' in a turn.

I give both

Both together -

Hard question to answer, as you are asking about the difference between apples and oranges -- they are each designed to do different things.

I have both, and you will be happy with either or both.

Now, if you asked me which -one- to get, my answer would be...

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and guess the person meant Probeam vs Rebar, not backbone vs Rebar.

If such is the case, I would go with the Probeam. If you are planning on doing anything SCCA, the installation is slightly different, and you should look up some posts by snaponbob.

I personally have both the reBar and the backbone installed. I prefer that setup.

Lots of probeam vs. reBar discussion here:

yes that is what I meant; thanks. Also, to address everyone else's responses, I like the thought of a combination of the two; something I had not considered before. Looks like I am already starting a list for my birthday

We have only the DDM Backbone, and have been VERY pleased with the difference it made in the handling. DDM posted a few days ago that they were having a combo sale, so you could pick up both the Backbone and the Probeam and save some serious coin. Splurge for Christmas or make it an early B-Day present.

I have the BackBone and the ProBeam. I'd do it all over again.

I think DDM now has some kind of a package deal going for BackBone, ProBeam and the front brace.

I had a rebar and had to remove it when I installed a solo exhaust. I purchased a Probeam, does same thing as rebar, because it installs much differently and has exhaust clearance. Also have the backbone and believe that the combination of both (rebar or probeam) and a backbone makes a huge difference. I suggest both for everyone.

I'm installing mine LV at MMM8. Judging by the reviews thus far, it's really going to tighten up the front end.
