I know they are more of a pain to install wheels
My Boxster had bolts instead of nuts, and it was much easier to mount the wheels. Just put the wheel on, spin it until the holes lined up, and put the bolts in. I'm not sure why it's not a more common design.
The ARP studs work very well, though. (Hint: use the Miata bolts. They're an exact fit, though you need five packs since the Miata has only four lugs per wheel.)
