Welcome Devil Dog. Looking forward to your reports. What I really want to know is what's under the arm rest next to the emergency brake. It seems that that would be a good place for storage. Most cars have a storage place there. Hope you get to find out.

It's really not that dangerous. Welds a lot like Alum, just need different, stricter environment conditions.
Take a bunch of titanium chips though, and you can have your own little fire works show!

I can help out there...

Unfortunately, there isn't room for much of anything there.

Headers are done, ceramic coated and going back on the car later today.

Chrome fuse box cover and chrome grills are done and going back in the car Friday.

Custom engine cover (prototype) is done and will be on the engine for pictures tomorrow.

3" custom exhaust is done.

I'm waiting to hear from Brentil so we can send our money over and start posting as supporting vendors. As soon as we get the word the link to our site will be up with all the pictures, parts, services, prices and availability.

I assume you are talking about chroming the plastic grilles with Thermal process?? Does the back of the grilles have a stamp with the letter "P" or ABS? If it were ABS it is best for that process, but if with a "P" (which GM uses) they need an extra process to fill up the pits and then sand them before plating?? Other wise they look like they were spray painted. I am curious about your price considering the price of each grille is $35.00 from GM.

We use a chemically applied metalizing process. It is actually not chrome at all, rather it is silver, covered with an automotive clear coat. It doesn't matter what type of plastic it is as this process allows virtually any substrate to be done. I have been trying to find a source for the stock, plastic grill inserts. Do you have one? Also, are you saying the stock grills are available from GM in chrome? I can not post prices yet. Hopefully by Friday.

Thanks,
Dan Ferraro

No the grills are not chrome, just the normal stock ones but they are on back order. from GM.
What is the name of the exact process that you use. Is it sprayed on powder coating? How thick is it? What about people that need to use the license plate holder in the front, will it still fit?

We use the Cosmichrome application. Base primer, metailizing then clear coat. It doesn't really add much to the part and there wont be any problems with the grills going back into the stock location.

Can't say that I've ever gotten turned on from removing an exhaust manifold or catalytic converter.

Although, I do get this really satisfying tingle up and down my back every single time I seperate a transmission from an engine. It sort of makes that "pop" noise when the two are separated for the first time since leaving the factory....

If you have worked on Chevy's as many times as I have, specifically removing the exhaust manifolds, you would understand why it made me so happy.

Dan, I've been following your efforts here. I'm wondering, have you taken any weight measurements along the way? Curious to know what the stock seats weigh for example, and the top as well for that matter. Thanks much.

Hi Tony,
no, we are not touching the interior. I need to have this car running by 6:30 PM tonight as we have a Silverado SS coming in for headers and custom exhaust. We are more performance oriented and not so much into anything in the interior.
