I know there is a ton of threads on painting calipers - and I have read most.
but, I am masking mine now to paint Saturday morning and I want to know if the spring clip on the back caliper needs to be removed, needs to be masked, or is painted along with the caliper?
If it is removed, how do you do it and is it hard to get back on correctly?

Experiences?

Thanks!

I removed mine (just gently pried off with a small screwdriver, if I recall correctly).

Putting them back on is fairly easy. You _do_ need to be sure to let the paint cure and then be careful not to scratch the paint re-installing. I took mine off and put them on 2-3 times _before_ I painted, just to make sure I knew what I was doing.

I didn't bother to remove my clips. I painted around them and didn't paint the little dimple where the clip pops in. It seems to collect brake dust there anyway, so they stay a little dark as it is. You really don't notice them unless you have your head stuck in the spokes of the wheel.

I just painted around my clips as well, no problem, very easy.

I removed the clips, painted, let it dry for 24 hours, put blue painters tape on the caliper, and then reinstalled the clips. Getting the painters tape off can be a pain but it stopped it from scratching the paint up. The few small scrapes I made I repainted once back together.

I will need to look at mine (been over a year) but if you use G2, then it will be dry in no time!
