If the forward facing flange was just a 1/4 to 1/2 inch higher it would seat the forward portion of the tube lower in the engine bay and would keep this rubbing issue from occurring. If not, at least post something disclosing the fact that this may happen and that it might be a good idea to shave down your hood bracket during installation. Anyway, now I've got a ground down hood bracket and a one week old pipe with a big gouge in it.

Man, that sucks! I wonder if DEJON-Dave has a fix to this? Cause he had to know of if before you got your pipes. Wonder why it's doing this on some gxps!?

I just put a little square of velcro (the soft side) over the area. I'm not too picky.

Did Dejon include in your install instructions that you need to cut the stock airbox mount to allow for the pipe to sit low enough to clear the hood? If not, I'd complain and get a new one. If they did (it's been on their web site for about 3 months) shame on you. Personally I didn't buy aftermarket pipes, I just powder coated the stock ones.

Deepblue those pipes look good. Thats exactly what i was thinking of doing. Who did the powdercoating? How much was it? I like the matching engine cover too.

I'm not getting rub marks due to the stock air intake, I had the Dejon CAI installed on my car prior to installing the Intercooler and piping. The pipe is being rubbed on the top side by the bracket on the leading edge of the hood. The one detailed in Go-N-Def's photos. The location of the flange on the front of the passenger side intercooler pipe prevented me from seating it lower in the rubber hose that connects to the intercooler. With the pipe being manufactured the way that it is, I don't see anyway to avoid this other than grinding down the hood bracket (which I ended up doing) or by using velcro as R3DLIN3 did. None of this was mentioned in the install instructions sent by Dejon.

Other than that, I like the way you powder coated your stock pipes. Looks great. I would have gone that route myself but I wanted a pipe that was mandrel bent, without flat spots, for better air flow. Dejon's website says that stock pipes reduce airflow by 40% due to these flat spots.

A local machine shop call Ship Point, cost $80.

You may want to loosen your clamps on the bottom of the pipe and break the seal loose and then shove them in until they hit the IC, re-tighten.

There hasn't been any data to support any increase in performance due to replacing the IC pipes. It is only a cosmetic mod.

How so? YOu remove pipes that have a silicone type tube that when gets hot expands. Which will give you inconsistent boost levels. I can tell a huge difference in consistentcy in boost ever since I replace my IC pipes. Just can't see where your statement is true. Not to start anything my friend.lol Just saying..lol

IMHO, the silicone coupler supplied (turbo/rub side) seemed too short and I believe this may be the factor in the rub issue. I have heard the same from others and will be ordering a replacement along with some new ones for my upcoming IC upgrade. I have a CAI, so the airbox was not an issue on mine and the pipes are bolted down as far as I could in the mounting areas. The short coupler was the biggest pain in the @$$ of the entire job IMHO,plus the lack of instructions in the box ... but I already knew how to do the install.

I was referring to the stock pipes and the bend in them, there is no gain for replacing them.

as a quick fix I put a hose clamp (T Clamp) around the area where it's rubbing.
The chrome sleeve dosn't look bad at all, and it protects the pipe from getting messed up.
Obviously with the bolt facing the inside of the car,,, away from necessary clearence
