Christine is my '08 GXP and she has an interesting electrical problem. The symptoms are easy - (1) if the drivers door is open and the key is in the ignition, I get the warning chime. If I take the key out, I still get the chime but it slowly dies away and to add a human touch, sounds more pitiful as it dies away. Doesn't matter if the drivers door is closed, still hear the chime.

The (2) is key related too; after I turn the engine off, the radio plays till I open the driver's door. Then all the accessories shutoff like they should. However, if I open the passenger door, everything continues to work. Not a problem, but sometimes when I put the top I go in through the passenger door and I have to turn the key in order to roll up the windows. Radio keeps playing for the 20 minutes or so till the computer times out.

Not really a problem, just a nuisance. The rhetorical question is should I take Christine into the dealership for them to figure out the problem. I have a very good relationship with them, just curious if this is something worth pursuing.

Thanks.

Only the Driver's Door being openned will break the retained accessory power to the audio.

Yeah, #2 is normal.

#1, I dunno. I can't say as I've even been in this situation.
