Will just have to wait and see what is announce, but 290 BHP will not sell the Stage II Kit.
Also remember is for the Cobalt SS and the message from that camp is they want well over 300.
Maybe they will have different Stage Kits and the one for the Solstice will be base on the SD290, but with the BSR and the Westers as competitors advertising 300 + BHP then it may hurt GMPP sales.

It is, and the numbers I've posted are the Stage II official numbers. It also doesn't make sense to put 290 HP on the RWD car then crank the boost up for the FWD car? I'm pretty sure we'll see the values I've posted as the official specs across the board.

Very likely to be the case, but one must keep in mind, the two sensors that are being swapped out with the GMPP, to be able to "see" more than 23psi, which is where Wester's is capped. Does that mean it'll make more power? I'd say more than likely not, I'm sure the fuel maps are far more conservative on the GMPP. I'd say wait and see still. If nothing else, those sensors, and a revised Wester's tune could take advantage of more boost than it currently does.

If gm can squeeze 43hp out of the coball ss staged kit im sure they can do more on the gxp. A 30hp increase is a bit conservative, unless they have another higher output one planned down the road.

Good point, why would they be installing sensors that can see 30psi yet only increase the power by a mere 30hp.
Hello everyone I'm new to these forums. I plan on purchasing a GXP coupe when they come out. Anyways I was wondering if this car is easy to hack in to and you can start playing with the tuning yourself, or is it locked like in my Cobalt SS? I'm probably going to be doing a bigger turbo than the stock one, among other things. Thanks

Much like the Cobalt SS ... HPTuners has limited support. Wester's Garage has a nice tune

Hey Latin, I thought the pictures were great (up untill the bikini contest pics ). The green Sol was pretty cool, I love army green cars and trucks. The green Sol would have been a bit cooler if it was a satin rather then gloss. It's amazing hwo much better Sols look with wider tires.
Has anyone come up with grill inserts like the SEMA 280 car?

The numbers given at the original SEMA press release are the real ones. Whatever they told you at NOPI is wrong.

I disagree... The numbers that will be official are the numbers that GM produces upon release of the kit , if they release it at all.
And for all we know the person at NOPI, might be in direct contact with the engineers at GM who are working on producing the kit..Plans change.. they may have decided for all we know to go with 320 hp kit after seeing what some after market's are producing with there tunes so they can stay competitive..GM wants us to buy there stuff , not westers or anything else..
And unfortunatly just because it was annouced on set-up doesnt make it official.
I hope it is and its a great deal and that somehow GM makes it so it doesnt kill your warranty.
but if and when it comes out thats when we will know the actual numbers the price, and the power it will produce, right now everything else is speculation.

brentil isn't saying one thing or another as far as what will be, what he's done is produced the actual press release for us to see what we can expect
your point is a great point, that those specs are surely subject to change, especially if we look at the current market
it's great to hear information from someone on the inside like yourself and we all surely hope you're correct and the gm tune will compete in performance with the westers tune
that being said, brentil's post is also right on, the specs he posted is what gm anticipated for release at one time, possibly, hopefully, and according to your sources, they have upped the anti
let me say this however;
the after market tunes don't have to consider the drive train warranty, all they are doing is giving us band for the buck
gm would be wise to keep specs where warranty repairs don't cost them more then they receive by selling the tune
the point is gm is not really competing with the aftermarket tunes, their tune carries with it a guarantee of reliability and they can therefore get more for a tune that delivers lower specs
I will pay 25% more for a gm tune that does not give the same performance as an aftermarket tune and I will be happy to do it
FYI .... regarding who is or isn't "connected, in the loop, has the knowledge" ... I think many here would be surprised the number of members that have "connections".
Now .... if you don't want to take someone's "knowledge" as that, your prerogative. Let's just say that many of those in the know have proven themselves over the last 3 years to actually KNOW what it is they are talking about.
I know of a list of about 10 members here that are "connected" and a few more that don't post.
Let's just leave it at that and quit trying to second guess when someone "gives" you info that you should listen to.
