You're right, it was. That wasn't my intent. My goal was to try to give some credit to the people upstream of the assembly process. I know the assembly process for this vehicle is very unique and very hands on and artistic. Let's just not forgot everyone back here in Detroit as well.
I met with several people from Detroit

I am aware of these test vehicles... but at last contact even those testing the cars were not sure when things would be wrapped up. It's been confusing to me, as usually my contacts have much more firm information than they do on this particular topic.
Any word as to if they ran into issues in testing or changed anything since last October? I know everything was working fine for the Setup show, and I know the SCCA Championships were prior to that and GM had other tunes out there then... just seems longer than the typical testing for non-factory equipment. I can't imagine they put this out at the test stations in Canada and Arizona... but I guess I could check on that.
I'm pretty sure GM is doing more extended testing on the Stage II kit since it'll be warranty covered so they need to validate all climate types and temperatures. Running race cars on the boosted tune isn't a really good test since they put a couple hundred miles on the cars then they're done.

MotorTrend has it right and wrong per the usual. They're not talking about the Stage II kit.
I tip my glass to you, dead Solstice variant...

I get what you are saying, and not debating at all.. just I have contacts in Canada, Arizona, and Milford... I hadn't heard anything about cold weather testing this winter in Canada after SEMA, so I didn't think Arizona was going to be tested.. that would have to be this summer for warm weather testing, as the kit wasn't finished (from what I've heard) in time to do it summer of '07.
None the less, GM is doing things right... not just on this car, but on just about everything they are putting out. I'd rather wait a bit longer and get something that works like it's supposed to, and have a warranty to boot... can't complain with that at all!
I understand your point about the race cars as well... but my intent was that testing was completed prior to that, and not that the Setup cars were testing the design... I know it wasn't clear though, my fault.
Any news on this? Anybody seen a press release, etc? Any word from GMPP? I really would like to get the facts...whenever they become available...may even be worth starting a new thread? On this one you have to read through 3 months of us all speculating to get to the part where it becomes official at MECCA II.
Just a thought....
At the Mecca they stated Summer 2008. Which is June, July, and August. They had originally said 4~6 months from SEMA 2007 which was March~May 2008 so June~August isn't too bad of a delay when it comes to things like this from GM. I've seen plenty other GM products like this be delayed by years or not even survive the time.

I'll be honest, I am completely happy with my Westers tune. It puts down almost 290 at the wheels. I have an automatic, too. Lyndon has been great to work with, and the switch back to stock is as easy as hooking it up to a laptop. If you bought some of the components of the GMPP tune, such as the upgraded fuel rail and new MAP sensor, I am sure Lyndon could do further tuning and get even more power out of it. As per warranty, switch it back to stock when going to dealer.
