I am a new member and am crazy about this WEB site. There is so much to read. It is truly an amazing site. Special thanks to the site creators and administrators.
I purchased my Solstice GXP on Oct 6, 2008 for $26,000 CDN as a previously owned car from a dealership. The car was originally purchased in Nov 30, 2006 and listed for $40,685. It is loaded with options (too many to list). It had 4280 Km (2660 miles) on it when I bought it and has never been driven in the snow (the underside looks brand new, not even dirty). I plan on keeping this car for a long time.
The power and handling of this car is remarkable. It has Goodyear Eagle F1 97W tires on it resulting in amazing traction in the wet. It is fun to drive and I'm having difficulty in taking it easy on the road. I'm sure you fellow GXP owners are having the same problem or should I say experience. The great looks are a definite eye catcher! I love everything about this car. I can even get my guitar (hard case and all) in the back with the top up of coarse.
I took it in to have the rear end checked Nov 4, 2008 (leaking a wee bit). Apparently the differential pinion seals were replace in the fall of 2007 and then the entire differential was replaced in June of this year. The pontiac dealership said that the differential was OK and that oil was coming out of the vent. They attached a piece of hose to the vent and inserted a valve in the other end and secured it at a higher level. So far this has been working just fine.
The car is presently tucked away in my garage for the winter (until April 15, 2009). Of course I had to paint the garage floor before winter storage of the car (nothing but the best for this beauty) and also have coverd the car to keep the dust off it and protect it from possible scratches. I plan on running it for about 20 minutes every 3 weeks or so and will be trickle charging the battery from time to time to keep it at 100%.
I am trying to attach a picture of it but am having trouble inserting the photo.
Take care all you GXP owners and God bless,
Rick
