This car is simply amazing. It is SO frustrating to drive it on the street because you must drive it SO far under its potential. The engine is nothing less than lightning in a bottle - STOCK. When I put a 3" system on, it will be "off the hook". It is pretty easy to forget the useless trunk when the car is SO composed when handling whatever comes up. The best way I can put it is to think about a mini Dodge Viper that doesn't feel like a mass produced kit car. I have been screaming for more gauges, which would be nice, but the grin is blocking my field of vision around the dash panel!!! Just TOO much fun. I have quite a few new cars, and built a few very good autocross cars, and had the opportunity to "live" with some very nice cars in my past, but NONE of them has possessed so many layers of interest and fun. For those of you that read this and are still waiting for your Redline or GXP I can testify to the fact that you have no idea how fulfilled you will be. THIS is a NEAT car. "Streak" and I (oops, did I just name my car?) are doing an autocross Sunday, and I am already antsy about waiting for March to come around for the 2007 season to start. I am 57, and if this is an indication of a mid-life crisis I just hope all other crisis will be so much fun!!!!

I agree. It is like a baby-Viper. I get quite alot of looks in the car and for the most part it is quite civilized. I saw a wrecked one (N.A) and was quite impressed with the look of the frame construction and suspension components. More guages are needed though as you stated. I was considering maybe getting a Vette later on. But the solstice seems to be a more solid car in some ways, Vettes have gotten very expensive and very complex. I hear the repair records are pretty dismal. This car seems more simple.
Thanks for the great report. My Mean/lightside arrives hopefully next Friday. My present 'bigball rides' are a 67 GTO with tri-pwr and a Triumph motorcycle with a 900 cc triple that screams. It is so fresh to hear someone define the GXP in terms of driving performance and seat-of-the-pants smiles per gallon rather than the standard complaints about wrinkled tops, clunks, clicking noises from the engine, etc. This car may have some minor 1st/2nd year blems, but it is a hoot to drive. I just heard from a friend who just returned from Australia and they are clamoring for the car down there. So, Snapon, please send more reviews when you can pull your hands from the wheel.

The new generation Triumph triples make MUSIC at 8500 rpm. Goosebumps!!! And an old GTO certainly would make a Kappa a refreshing break.

While more gauges and techo gadgets would be nice, this car is so much fun to drive you find you just don't care. Frankly, the more I drive it, the more 'one with it' I feel. You get back to the good old days of shifting by ear instead of tach, and the car just seems to want to go wherever you point it, and absolutely NEVER complains. 'You want more power? Here it comes...
The car gets more GPM (grin's per mile) than any I have ever driven.
Yes, for some of us that have been driving it for a while and have been singing it praises, this car is a lot of fun to drive, and if you start to put things like a better exhaust etc, it gets even faster, so enjoy this great car, but be careful out there, it really wants the open road, hate to drive it in traffic.

Every impression I read makes me want my GXP sooner than later. This wait is now dreiving me. Open roads is one of the reasons for recently moving to our present location. Think the tune; I WANT MY, I WANT MY, I WANT MY GXP!
Location: Rosamond, CA - Home of Willow Springs Raceway
This is making me antsy at well. My car has been at the dealer less than a week and I am waiting for my salesman to return from vacation (don't want to deal with anyone else). I'm doing the paperwork on the 21st but can't take the car until Capitol One does its thing. I'm hoping to get it before next weekend.
EDIT: We're having a warmer November this year and I want to get some top down before it gets cooler and starts raining.

Thank you for another great review/update. I love reading these threads but like the others, I’m getting even more antsy in anticipation of my GXP arrival.

"Mac Daddy" DELIVERED! Sly/Ebony with the works...
Initially I pissed some people off on the forum because I listed it for sale for $10K over. I kinda lucked into the car. I didnt really know anything about it. My father ordered it awhile ago, didnt fit well in it so I took delivery. I heard that people were getting alot of money for these and even heard of some people paying $25,000 over on the new Shelbys. I listed the car and to be honest have not had alot of luck. Honestly, I dont care because the more I drive it, The more I love the car. At its price point there is nothing out there that gets the kind of response both behind the seat and from onlookers wishing they were behind the wheel. If you think about it, it kind of is a pretty revolutionary car. You have something relatively cheap to buy and run that is about as neat to drive as cars costing double or triple its price.
the car is SO composed when handling whatever comes up
That's the thing that keeps amazing me about it. For such a small car it just tracks and handles so beautifully. I drove it out on the interstate today and I just couldn't believe how well it held a straight line and how accurate and solid the steering feel was even at high speed.
