Hi all, this is my first post on the forums. Finally decided to register after being a lurker for a long time before getting my solstice and for a week after getting it. Ended up getting an 07 GXP because it was basically the same price as a new 08 base model and rather get a loaded car that might have only been used for 6k miles than a brand new one with almost no features. I am really enjoying the car and have no regrets that I went with the solstice instead of some luxury car.
My question is, I am reading about the Seal recall but I called the 1800 Pontiac number and entered my VIN # and they are saying there are no open recalls for my vehicle. Does that mean mine never had the issue? Or should I call my local Pontiac dealership and make an appointment anyways? I know the dealership I bought it off of had no idea about the recall since it wasn't a Pontiac dealership and I am pretty sure the first owner didn't take it in.
I appreciate all the responses and hope to be a contributing member to this forum.

I have an 07 GXP I bought new, and I did get a letter and took it in for the fix. It was fairly painless. If I were you I would go in to a Pontiac dealer and have them check on it. My understanding was that all 07s needed the mod. Better than waiting and having a prob with your rear end later. When I had the base model they had to replace the entire differential. But this one was just a seal and spring change I think.

Thanks nice to be here with all the plethora of useful information =)
Did you buy the car from a GM dealer? They should have taken care of the repair before delivering the car to you. Have your dealer pull up the service history on the car and it should be listed as done if your call falls within the recall VIN list and they saw it is not pending the recall.

The original owner traded it into a Ford dealership who did there own 130point inspection before reselling it. But when I asked if anything was done since a recall had been issued recently they didn't know anything about it.
What did they say, did you ask them? I sent a PM to Small Dealer to check this thread
Well it wasn't a real person I spoke to, was an automated machine. That asked me to say the last 8 #'s of my VIN. When I did that it said your car has no open recall's available. But I am still curious about it since it was an automated program and not an actual person who told me that. And thanks for PMing small dealer about it, I appreciate the help.

Very few of the 2006-2007 Solstice production run would not require the pinion seal recall. And those would have to be ruled out by a dealership inspection of the rear differential.
If customer assistance say that there are no "open" recalls, then teh pionon seal recall is "closed" on your car.
Not sure what you are basing your belief that the former owner of the car did not have the recall done, but if GM's system shows it as "closed", then it must have been done.

Recall was completed in April in Costa Mesa, at the "selling" dealership.
