Is it correct that there is NO spare tire, just a "tire repair kit"??
Does the car have a Jack at least?

I would add - be careful if you do jack up the car. I think some have been damaged by jacking the car up in the wrong spot.

I'm pretty covered though, five different rescue sources (6 if you count friends/relatives).

1. Pontiac roadside
2. Dealer 24 hour roadside
3. AmEx road side (they just started that)
4. AAA (the least dependable/slowest in my opinion)
5. TDOT roadside assistance (available in other states as well)

I guess OnStar would have been on the list if I had gotten that too, but i didn't.

The only other roadster I considered getting was the Toyota MR2 Spyder, and that one actually DOES have a spare. (and it took a good chunk out of the already tiny "trunk")

If you are worried about it,, Penzoil has a tire inflation "kit" in a can. Seals any minor leaks and inflates the tire., will fit in the "trunk" easily. You won't have to use the Solstice kit. I have a can in all my cars. D. Allen

this was sort of an issue for me at first, something i had never considered until i was told as the papers were being signed. but from my understanding, the tire repair kit will last under normal driving conditions (no faster than 50 mph) until you can get to a shop to fix the tire for you. its sort of like a run flat system except the tire doesn't automatically do it for you. is that right?

Well here's the concern I have regarding the "can of glue", and please correct me if I'm wrong.
When one of these tires go flat/bad you probably wont notice it until it is completely flat. (because of the rim/tire size) When a tire is -completely- flat and deformed from the weight of the car, doesn't it lose it's seal against the rim? If that's the case, then you wont be able to inflate it unless it was at least jacked up.
I guess I'm also still a little paranoid from a bad experience I had back when I was driving a Lebaron convertible. I got a batch of bad tires, and one of them literally came apart while I was driving 80 down I-10. Scared the H3LL out of me and jacked up the side of my car pretty good. (the tire was only a few weeks old, and everything was at the right pressure) If it wasn't for my spare I wouldn't have been able to limp home and hour away.

You are right...once it's FLAT and the bead broken you can't fill it up.

That stretch of I10 is littered with the carcases of tread snakes. You're lucky you weren't hurt.

Don't miss Newman27's point here. No matter how long your list of rescue sources is, more than likely most of them will NOT know how to lift your car properly unless you show them. There have been many sad stories and pictures here of Solstices with serious damage caused by lifting the cars improperly and that includes several dealers who got it wrong. Search, and you will easily find instructions on the proper lifting procedure which can be copied and kept in your glovebox.-bird
