I wish they would change the picture of the Aisin 5-speed on the Powertrain site. That IS NOT the 5-speed as used in the Solstice/Sky - it's actually the version used in the Colorado/Canyons. The shifter housing and mechanism is TOTALLY different on the GMX020 platform.

Interesting that the engine info says premium fuel required.
Its a turbo, it needs high octane plain and simple unlike the regular 2.4L.
Besides i dont think anyone who buys this car is going to drive it like a granny and hope they get the best mpg.
WOW! 250 ft lbs @ just 1500 RPM! I was watching "Trucks" on TV today and they said the reason they had a 4.7L Jeep V8 in a rock crawler instead of a 350 Chevy was, "...believe it or not, this thing gets a massive 250 ft lbs of torque at just 1500 RPM!" Talk about your plate of shrimp!

Think all the bad the can say is it has a small trunk
Maybe not "bad" but it's not a very rev happy engine. Seems to top out at a very low RPM. Down hill after 5300 and fuel cut off at 6200. They seem to think 5500 is about the limit from the dyno chart.

Well while I would love to see an s2000-like redline, I think we've got to be reasonable given the price point of the car. Basically it's going to pull like a b**** from just above idle, so the higher RPMs won't really be needed to get incredible performance for the money. This also means that it won't be such a disadvantage to be limited to a 5 speed tranny, especially if they adjust that wide 2-3 gap which I read they are doing. Very driveable in traffic. Got to say though I hope they tune the sound well - it's going to be hard to match the high-end wail of the RSX-S/SI engine being wound up to 8000 RPM.
