Its a turbo, it needs high octane plain and simple unlike the regular 2.4L.
Besides i dont think anyone who buys this car is going to drive it like a granny and hope they get the best mpg.
But damn, could that torque band get any flatter?
In the GM announcement info they oriignaly said it "Recommended 91+ octane but can run on 87 with a performance decrease."

I hope GM leaves the mufflers off ala SRT4. I also hope 275whp can be achived with an exhaust/DP and ECU tune.
Personally I suggest against leaving the mufflers off. That's the #1 complaint I've heard from owners and pretty much everyone else is that the car is a beast compared to most cars for in cabin noise.

It's limited. The tuners are going to have one heck of a time with this car. 300hp is supposedly very easy.
that tourque curve ( can we call it a curve? it's a straight line up to max tourque before 2k RPM!?) would suggest it's been limited and there is potential for more there. The limiting factor may be the ability of this ecotec to withstand the pressure.
Even if the general upgrades to forged internals, it still has to provide a motor that will not come back for warranty repairs from enthusiastic drivers.

Graph looks odd to me. Not like an actual dyno from an actual car, but rather just manually graphing out the lines based on knowing where peak torque and hp arrive, and filling it all in. I have never seen an actual dyno chart look that smooth.....Anyone?????

As of yet I don't think we have any official info saying the new tranny will be on the base Solstice. Some of the things we see hint it, but those mgiht be missleading because they might be refering to the GXP/RL/GT versions getting the tranny and not the actual base versions.

This is a flywheel dyno and not a wheel dyno. It might also have mathmatical smoothing algorithym applied to it to make it look better for publication.
