I see the illuminated WR comes with an 8 battery pack for the LED's (?).
Can it also draw power from the car if you use the brake light module and wiring?

How long does a set of batteries last? I don't believe these LEDs draw much power.
Any user experiences?

Thanks.

Just so you know.. you do not need the brake light module in order to power the LED's. It only allows you to adjust the brightness of the LED's. You can wire the LED's into the brake lights, or license plate light.

I hooked mine up with a relay... and it draws power from the license plate light. This way, when the headlights turn on (the license plate turns on too), my LED's light up. But, with the relay... when I put the car into reverse, it kills the power so I can see clearly to back up.

You can pick up any source of 12 v power as long as its switched. Personally I tapped into the tail light on the passanger side at the plug. It comes on when the tail lights come on. I found this was the minimum energy path and very easy to do.

I think someone also disconnected the rear window defroster and then used that as a switched power source. You could set it up so that you could also plug and unplug as needed ...

We do not recommend powering your illumination with simply a battery pack. The battery packs are meant for use when at a car show or meet and you dont want to leave your engine on.

If someone does not want to use the 12V wires that are in the harness that Rob was talking about then we recommend using a 12V adapter plug that fits into the 12V source in your dash. We will send these with any order at no additional cost however to my knowledge the preferred way is the running lights or brake light wire......
