Ok, since Pontiac is going down the drain and will be closed down by the end of 2010 or 11. Will the Saturn Sky still be in production??? Or will the death of pontiac and all of it's models take GMs familiar platforms to the grave with them? Can anyone answer this please?
so why did they decide to stop production of the kappa. They aren't shutting down saturn. Just pontiac. Why not keep it for the millions of enthusiasts.

The big wigs are obviously not the brightest bunch that GM has had in it's life. Otherwise they wouldn't be in this much trouble to begin with.
All Saturns are badge-engineered GM products at this point; he bought the brand for the dealer network to import Chinese and Korean vehicles.
Good for him; not good for the domestic auto industry.

The kappa was always intended to be limited production vehicle. 4yrs if I'm not mistaking.I know we only got 3,but everyone seems to have lost sight of the original plan.

Let me count the model years:
2006
2007
2008
2009.
total = 4
Originally was going to run through model year 2011 at Wilmington, then shift to Bowling Green for the 2012 model year. (If my remembering isn't faulty.)

Uh, you mean 5 and 4, right? There were 4 model years of Sols (3 of Skys)

If there were "millions" of real enthusiasts they just may have kept it going.
IIRC, a little over 100,000 Kappa's in 4 years....not enough to put it on the keep list.
I'll always hope that someday the Kappa chassis will resurface, somewhere, because it really is a nice piece. But at this point I won't hold my breath.
This is actually good news for us lucky enough to own one. Less Kappas means potentially higher prices down the line if the interest for these cars resurfaces as it oftern does with classics.

Why is that "good news"?
The only "good news" in that case is if you're selling one and never want to get another. After 20 years in the old car hobby, I saw classic cars go from high priced, to very high priced, to are-you f'ing-kidding-me priced
It has become an investment exercize, not a hobby.
The lower the qty, the more desirable a car becomes and the higher the price goes. Whether you chose to sell or not is your choice. If you don't sell, that does not diminsih the fact that your car is now worth more and that is a good thing
Over the years I've owned a lot of classics; 74 Cuda, 66 Mustang, 74 X 1/9, 56 Hemi T&C, 57 caddy, 59 Caddy and some fun cars also, several Jeep Beach buggies, mud boggers and show trucks. Owning the cars was alway fun, and getting the next one was just as much fun. Whether I made or lost money on the transaction was irrelevant but I'd be lying if I said I would not rather make money
I see from your signature that you had quite a few cars you sold over the years. I'm sure that if you made money on the transaction that would have considered that a good thing.
