I realize the undertaking behind this would be large, but my understanding is the HHR SS has a "no-lift shift" option. Being that these are the same ECU's, what would it take to implement that feature on our vehicles?
It has both "no-lift" shift as well as "launch control". Hit button, go wot with foot to
floor-eng holds revs at 4100, then sidestep clutch. Car leaves and pcm does some
adjustments for optimum wheelspin. Go to redline, keep foot to floor, step on clutch and
engine holds a few hundred less than redline and boost stays up, shiftg gears and release
clutch.
I suspect HPT or Westers can probably port the HHR SS programming to GXP . Hard
to say how difficult it would be but having same pcm has got to help.

OK for those ordering a new ECM, that is the one you need to send to Westers, you need to have your VIN loaded before you put it in your car or you MIGHT get a security lock out on the ECM. Lyndon can set the VIN for you. I have not tested this as, first I don't have a new ECM second I don't want to lock it. You will have to do a CASE relearn after you recieve your ECM back according to Lyndon, and the dealer can do it, the car will be drivable but have a check engine light, most off the time they just read the code scratch there head and do it for free.

I plan to send my stock ECM to Wester on 03/31. When I receive it back, I should just be able to re-install and roll. Right? I won't be in the group that requires a re-learn? Thanks. What is the most noticable difference after the tune? Idle? Sound? Power?
Yes if you send him your stock ECM you will just put it in an HAUL AZZ! I am sure you will love it.

I sent mine in monday. I hope he gets it soon. The tracking number the post office gave me only tells me that it has left the country. The lady at the post office said thats as far as they can track it. After looking at Wester's site, I realize I should have bought insurance to allow further tracking. The lady at the post office said I didn't need it, because the declared value was below the amount automatically included with Priority mail.
I do not have a replacement ecm, but if I aquired one at a later date, woud anything be needed, other than a case relearn via the dashhawk?
I was thinking of trying GMPD, as all the local dealers I talked to said there are none to be had around here, and that they can't order one on that part number. Supposedly there should be a replacement number comming, but who knows. One dealer told me he could get one shipped from another dealer in MD that has one in stock, but it would cost $500. I said no thanks.
I'm not sure if I should even bother. I tuned my Tahoe with a hypertech programmer 3 years ago and never felt the need to switch it back, but it's nice to know I could if I wanted to. I actually forgot I had it till I needed it to read a CEL code on the Tahoe. I wish the Tahoe was CAN, so the dashhawk would work on it.

I presume this would need to be done at the dealer, or is there another way.
The security learn is here on the site somewhere and might even be in the owners manual and is a weird dance with the keys and the ignition. The VIN could be done with someone who has HP Tuners or a Tech 2 like the dealer.

I'm almost ready to prepay the wester tune but I have a question:
1. I don't have HPT. After Wester reflash my stock ECU can I go back to the stock setting if needed. For example can I send back my ECU to Wester and reflash it to stock form. If the answer is yes, what is the cost?
2. If I make future modifications to my car (exhaust, intercooler, new turbo, etc.) can I send back the ECU to Wester for a new program. What is the cost? Any limitations?
I sent an e-mail to Wester but Im still waiting for answers.
GMPartsDirect has it for $340 including shipping. You can pay for the tune and then just send in your ECM once you get it from GMPD. That's what I plan on doing.
That's a GOOD price. I just got mine for $375+tax from my Chevy dealer. (The Pontiac parts guy is an IDIOT!)
It took 4 days to get mine. It will be shipping to Wester's on Monday.
As this is a new ECM, is there anything I need to do to it before OR after it's tuned, other than plug it in?

From what I've read you will have to do a crank relearn if you have a new ECM that has never been in your car. If you don't do this you won't have misfire management. It only takes a few minutes to do. You can take it to the dealer, use a Tech 2, DashHawk or a few other laptop based programs to get this done. Once you do this once you don't have to do it again and can swap back to your stock ECM if you want.
You will also want to make sure Wester's loads your VIN into the new ECM. Read up a few posts, it's all there from people more knowledgeable than me.
