My computer is running like trash right now, or else i'd read through this whole thread cuz im sure this has been discussed before.
Ok, i just recieved my ecm back from westers and i had some questions on the "pass key relearn"
This is what it says to do:
With a master vehicle key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF>
Observe the security indicator. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn OFF.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes
Turn key to the OFF position.
With a master vehicle key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has not learned the key transponder information and/or the ECM has now learned the fuel continue password.
If additional keys are required to be learned, refer to Adding Keys.
So prior to all this, my car wont recognize the key and wont be able to start at all?
On step 3, I turn OFF the ignition but DONT take out the key right?
On step 5, I turn the key to the OFF position but DONT take out the key right?
What does Step 6 mean? Does this mean that by now, this either worked or didnt work? If my car doesnt start at step 6, do i repeat everything again 3 times?
Also, i dont have a scan tool to clear any DTC's. Is this really necessary before i start driving my car ?
After doing all this, will my car start with the same key when i pop my stock ecm back in or do i need to do the relearn everytime i swap the ECM's?
If someone can quote me (or copy paste) this, and add the answer to all my questions, that'd be awesome!!
Thank you,
Carlos
From Post #1 on this thread
Here are instructions from Westers after you get your ECM back or with a new ECM, you may not have to do if you send in your ECM, but for sure with a new one, just in case here they are.
The 'passkey' relearn will have to be done...which has to be done first before the vehicle will even start up.
1. Attempt to start vehicle.
2. Relax key to the 'run' position
3. Anti-theft light will 'flash' or remain on solid for 10 minutes and then go off.
4. Shut key off after the light has gone out.
Repeat steps 1-4 again another 2 times.
These procedures have taken 30 minutes (minimum).
5. Start your vehicle.

Ok great. You guys have answered all my questions i had posted, but now a new one has popped into my head.
I can go ahead and try to start my car, if it turns on....great, if it doesnt...then do the pass key relearn?
Looking forward to putting this ecm in after work
yup .

Dejon has a Error code reader on their site for like $130 i think. Is that what i should be looking to get ? Im surprised to hear of a bunch of people that have cylinder misfires etc. My last car which was an RSX type-S always seemed to run fine. I never knew errors could even occur. Are cylinder misfires a very common thing? Does this only happen when you start modding up your car ?

Easy as pie...Downloaded his stock file in about 21 minutes. After emailing it to Lyndon, he returned a tuned file within 20 minutes. It took approximately 45 seconds to upload that file into his car...and off he went with a big smile. I took a test drive with him and he said he could instantly feel the power. He used to race cars, so for him to be happy was a really good thing. He commented that it is a significant change from stock and he was extrememly happy, especially for the price. I need to get rights to the 08 models so I can tune them too. Noone in my area has the HP Tuners software, and I am not out to make any money off of it...just want to help fellow club members.
Some of his additional comments were:
The car feels just as smooth as stock, but with a ton more power...even during local driving
I am going to have to upgrade the tires, because the stock ones seem to be having a ton of trouble sticking to the ground now
I've been noticing a big performance improvement with the cooler ambient temperatures the past few days. It seems with the tune I'm not backing out on boost with lower ambient temps like we do with the stock tune. This thing has been behaving like a monster lately!! yow!
