By popular demand, we are now offering the Magnetic Rock Guards to the public for $49.00 a set. Not only will they look sporty on your ride, they will protect that vulnerable area, in front of the rear wheels, from rocks and road debris. Even though they can be removed and reinstalled for car washes in seconds, they will not come off in high speeds.

For more info, click on the following link. Thanks.

I hate to even post this Rudy.. sorry. I hope you know I'm not trying to be critical here.

I use magnetic sheets for autocross numbers, and they use the same thing I use for vehicle signs. They hold at highway speeds (and higher) and work great.

Just wondering... if this is what you are using (0.030" material). Because if that's what it is, well... someone could just make a template, and order their own sheet and do this much cheaper.

Again, not trying to take away from anything you are doing... more trying to understand what it is, and if it's worth the cost (to me), that's all.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm not too worried about people making their own. In fact, I encourage it! That way people will be able to show their own versions of these guards the way they like it and who knows, may have a better looking version. If it's that good, I may even buy one set from that person. I have no problem supporting the creative industry as long as it's local (within the US borders).

But, like all projects, it does require a little time and effort to bring to reality. I just provide these simple necessities, such as these rock guards, for those who don't have the time and effort to create one for themselves.

There is a laminated sheet of black vinyl on top of the magnetic material. Same concept as those magnetic business cards exceptt only with vinyl. and I don't think you can paint over vinyl unless perhaps you use an automotive paint with the flex agent that will allow the paint to flex and not crack over the flexible magnetic material.

Rudy... can you give rough dimensions (three legs of the "triangle"). I might order up some more magnetic sheet and cut my own designs.

And... you CAN paint this material (at least the stuff I used for my autocross numbers). I'm thinking of mocking up a set and painting it Mean to see how it looks.

I don't have any estimation on completion for these rings as I have not begun prototyping for this part yet. It's currently on the back burner as I'm still working on a big solstice project that's taking longer than expected. Once that's done, I'll post pics and begin prototyping both the rings and the recessed grill if finances allow. I'll post more once things get underway. I'll definitely get the rings going soon as there has been some recent interest in them. Thanks for asking.

I know that I can get one complete set (left and right) from a 16" x 24" sheet. The longer horizontal length of my current profile is slightly less than the 16" length. And the height is less than 12". As long as you stay within that foot print of material, then you'll be fine. However, depending on your design profiles, it may exceed the given dimensions. Try using a paper template of those given dimensions, and place it on the fender to see if it fits the size that you are thinking about. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip on the painting. Don't you need a flex additive in the paint to keep from cracking though? And are you talking about painting directly on the vinyl material or magnet itself?

I bought a 16" x 24" 0.030" magnetic sheet for my autocross numbers. It came white, and I painted it black and clear coated it. I've seen no issues so far... and I wouldn't expect any at this point. Now, my numbers might be more flat when in on the car (they go on the door) than where these guards would go... but I don't foresee an issue. No guarantees though... just my thoughts from what I've done so far.
